MTNi)TPS <br />City Council <br />P'eb. 9, 1983 <br />1933 Sewer Mr. Gl.anz.er reported t:hat percenta~e wise the wat:er lossi.s not too bad. <br />& idater Glanzer estimated the loss at: 9% and commented that a£3% loss :i.s the <br />T~udget (Cont.) avera~e. <br />Mr. Glanzer reported t:liat about 7.4% of regular employees salaries <br />is f;i.p.,ured i.n the water budget. The rest of. salaries i.s in the <br />sewer budget. <br />Mrs. Nardini. aslced about T.he i.ncrease for telephone servi_ce. Mr. <br />Glanzer stated that the i.ncrease ref.l.ects the i.ncrease that the <br />Celephone company has passed on to the Ci.ty. 'I'he i.ncr.ease is not <br />due to addi,ti.onal faci.lities. <br />Mrs. N1r.dini asked about the i.ncrease for mai.nten2nce and repairs <br />in the water budget. Mr.. Glanzer repli.ed that this i.s due to a <br />tr.ansf.erring of some of: the costs from the sewer buclget. <br />Nardi.ni t:hen aslced about the other servi.ces portion of. the ~vater. <br />budget. Glanzer replied that this covers when an outside contractor <br />i.s needect< Mr. Glanzer stated that the budget also r^_flects about <br />$£300 in these costs that the Ci.ty has not yet received reimbursement <br />from the State for. <br />Mrs. Nardi.ni. askecl~ohat coas covered under the offi.ce supplies porti.on <br />of the buclget. Mr. Glanzer r.eported that Ghis covers building <br />mater.i.aLs. The Clerk reported that this item also covers costs <br />incurred with the computer. <br />Mrs. Nardi.ni aslced about Lhe increase under i.nsurance. Glanzer <br />replied that this is caused from some combinin~; of: the insurance <br />COStS. <br />Mr.s. Nardini asked about the i.tem under machi.nes and equipment. <br />~Ir. Glanzer r.ep?i.ed t':at this portion wi.l1 cover the radi.o equipment <br />the Uti.li.ty Department has on order and also covers telepltone <br />equipment. <br />Mrs. Scalze aslced about the i.nterest on debt i.tem. hlr. Glanzer. <br />repl.ied t:hat thi.s i.s the Ci.ty Gara,n,e. The Clerlc r.eported that thi.s <br />is also covered in the sewer budget. <br />Mr. Gianzer repor[ed that the City of SC. Paul. Water. Department has <br />passed on a 10% i.ncrease i.n the:i.r water rates. Mr. Glanzer stated <br />that thi.s f.igured out for Li.ttle Canada consumers at ~1.07 per <br />thousand ~;allans and he i.s sug~esting that that figure be rounded <br />off to $1.1.0 per thousand gallons. <br />Mr. Tahey commented that the City is just passi.ng otf the 10% i.ncrease <br />to its consumers. Mr. Fahey asked the reason f.or the 25% increase <br />in the servzce charge. <br />Page -13- <br />
