rTtNU~rrs <br />c~_cy cou„~;.1 <br />Peb. 9, 19£33 <br />1933 Sewer & Mr. GLanzer stated that in order to bring the servi.ce charge down <br />Water to the $6.00 per. quarter that it was in 1987, $1.4,000 would have <br />I~udget (Cont.) to be cut from the budget:. Mr. Glanzer stated that the i.ncrease <br />zs due from the ~20,000 budgetecl for the pri.nci.ple and i.nterest <br />on the City gara~;e. <br />Mr.s. Scalze aslced why this bond ~i.ssue was being pai.d from the service <br />charge, rather than the water rates. <br />Mr. Glanzer replied that the water r.ates are what the St. Paul. <br />Water Department charges the Ci[y of Little Canada. The Service <br />charne is the Ci.ty's maintenance costs. <br />Mr. 1?orsberp, stated that he caas under. the zmpressi.on that the ser.vice <br />charge was a tempor.ary one for one year. Porsberg did say, however., <br />that he di.d not see how the Cit:y could eliminate the service charge. <br />Mrs. Nardini. commentect that the Counci.l di.scussed last: year that <br />when more people were hoolced up to the City's water system t:he <br />service charge could be changed. <br />Mr. Fahey stated that when the City becomes compl.etely metered, <br />the City should dr.op the service charge. At that ti.me the city <br />could p;o to a f.lat cost per thousand gallons. <br />Mr. Glanzer stated thaC this may happen i.n five years. <br />14rs. Scalze asked if the Council was willtng to go al.ong with the <br />projected $7.50 ser.vice char~;e per quarter. ilr. Glanzer stated <br />that that is what i.t wi.11 talce with the projected budger. <br />Mr.s. Scal.ze stated that she had a problem with t}te way the bonds <br />for the p,arage were be:i.ng paid off.. Scalz.e stated that= the people <br />without: water avai.labte are not paying for the City gar.age. <br />Mr. Glanzer sug~;ested that the alternative was to assess the cost <br />of: the Ci.ty Garage. The City C1erk reported that Che bond i.ssue <br />was sold as a revenue bond i.,sue. <br />Mr. Forsber~; statec( that i.f the Ci.Cy did not have sewer and water <br />available, it would not need a City Garage. <br />Mr. Glanzer stated r.hae there is a servi.ce char~;e on sewer, but iC <br />is 6ui.l.t into the [lat rate. <br />The Cterlc reported that the reason the water buciget :i.s the way it <br />is, i.s to separate St. Paul's charp,es from Li.ttle Canada's. <br />Mr..
