Newman made some comments about at the ti.me the Li.ttte Canada Ma11 <br />Sip,nal (C,ont.) additi.on was being cons:ictered, the Council discussed a traff,ic flow <br />situaCi.on aroun<1 Vilcing 1)rive that wouLd Calce a lot of the pressure <br />off. the ~i.ntersect9-on in questi.on. <br />Mrs. Scalze commented that at t:he time the plans for the Mall. were <br />apnrovecl, the Counci.l should have sai.d the traffi.c si.gnal must: be i.n pl~ce <br />before there is any development. <br />Mr. Porsber~; commented that the Council e1~i.minated a streeC easement <br />behind the Li.Y.tl.e Canada Mal1. The traffic flow situati.on was <br />di.scussed in connecttion cvith f.urther devel.opment of. the ar.ea. <br />Mrs. Nardin:i. pointed out that in 1984 the Counci.l woul.d Ue r.equi.red <br />to partici.patc i.n the cost of. the permanent si.gnal i.n add:iti.on to the <br />$10,000 being r.equested for t:l~e temporary signal.. <br />Mr. }lanson commented that the Pngineer i.s checking into the possib:i.Lity <br />of Sr.ate ai.d f.unds bei.np, used for thi.s signal. <br />Mrs. Nardi.ni_ commented that the Ci.ty does not have the $10,000. <br />Mr. Forsberp, poi.nted out that:, the City jast tooic ;516,000 out of the <br />conti.ngency Lund. <br />Mrs. Nardini stated that she f.elt the commitment on the part of t1~e <br />mercliants is commendabl.e, but the City does no[ have the money. <br />Mr. Iianson suggested that the Counc:i.l review the budget. Mrs. Scaize <br />poi.nted out thaT, the counci.l. ctid that at the last Counci.l meet:i.ng. <br />The Counci.l cannot do i.t every meeting. <br />Mr. Forsberg stated that the merchants in the area knew the CrafEic <br />si.tuation when they built thei.r devel.opments. Nardini. stated thaC the <br />Council should probably have deni.ed the Little Canada Mal1 project. <br />Mrs. Scalze stated that she thought at the meeting consideri.ng, the <br />LitCle Canada ~1a11 project a11 the merchants agreed to pay for the <br />temporary si.gnal. <br />Mr, Newman commented that the Ci.ty has an obligati.on to the public <br />safety. Mrs. ical.ze a~;r.eed and stated that that :is cahy the Counci.l <br />wi11. Ue considering the f.undi.ng for che purchase of an acidi.tional f.:i.re <br />truck. <br />Mr, Newman pointed out that the businesses in thi.s area parti.c~[pate <br />in the Ci.ty's tax burc(en.
