Mr, Schifslcy stated that he made <br />(Cont.) the financi.al plans for his building before he lcnew of the requirement <br />of. a sprinkler system. Also the building per.mit ~sas granted before <br />he knew of: this requirement. <br />SchiEsky stated that the system will. cost him between $12,000 and <br />$20,000. The building is caorth ~62,OOOe Tir. Schifslcy stated t:hat <br />if he does not get an exempti.on on this requir.ement, he wi1.1 no[ be <br />able to move h:i.s business to Little Canada. <br />Mr. Ralph Nadeau also expressed concern over this requi.rement. <br />Mr. Nadeau also poi.nted out thac the cost will be greater for. the <br />systems for bui.ldings that are set back farther f.rom the street. <br />Mr.. Roger l~teckman appeared before the Counci.le Mr. Heclcman pointed <br />out that his buildi.n~; i.n Ryan's Park is not heated. IC i.s used f.or <br />storage of trucks and material. A1so this bui.ldinp, is set back <br />farther f.rom the street. Mr. Iteckman staeed thar, he could see no <br />purpose for sprinkleri.ng his building. <br />Mr. P'orsberg pointed out that present buildings are not included in <br />the requirement. Mr. Fahey stated that the the requirement applied <br />to new constructi.on. <br />Mr. I~teckman nointed out that should he add on to hi.s bui.ldinp„ he <br />would be required to sprinkler it. <br />Mr, Pat Peterson of Peterson Maintenance appeared before the Council. <br />Mr. Peterson pointed out that the City Garage i.s not sprinklered~ <br />nor is the City kia11. Mr. Peterson pointed out that schools are <br />not sprinlclered, however, schools Lind the money to carpet hallways <br />and install air-conditioni.ng. <br />Ms. OLson pointed out that under Appenda.x F, if. a building is added on <br />to or the use changes, sprinlcler systems are r.equired. <br />Mr.. Joe Rossi appeared before t:he Council. Mr. Rossi reported that <br />he has plans to add on to his building. [Iowever, with the coses <br />that would no~v be involved, he cannoC spend that kind of money, <br />Mr< Ro~er Stanlce appeared before the Council. Mr. Stanke stated that <br />he cloes not beLieve there has ever been a fire call. in the industrial <br />park. Stanke staCed that he caas contemplating adding, on to his <br />building, but wiCh the costs i.nvolved could not. Stanke commented <br />that it was not worCh spendi.ng $1f3,000 on a$60,000 buil.ding. <br />Stanke pointed out that these bus:inesses are payi.ng taxes in the <br />City and have not aslced Lor one service from the City. <br />Mr. Fahey pointed out that the MGM }lotel probabl.y never had a fi.re <br />call either.
