PIINUTES
City Council
Nov. 26, 1985
Ballfields Mr. Fahey asked the level that was planned for the parking lot. Mr.
(Cont.) Sanders replied that there were various options for the parking lot.
One would be to put it on the bottom and the other would be to terrace
the parking lot. However, there are no plans for having the lot on the
same level as Edgerton. Therefore, there would be natural screening
of the 1ot.
Sanders also pointed out that the ballfields would be below grade of
Edgerton by probably 8 feet.
John Ehrnretter of Edgerton Street asked if there would be a possibility
of getting water from LaBore Road to Little Canada Road. Fahey replied
that the City would not object to this but Mr. Ehrnretter would have to
get his neighbors to agree. The City would pick up the assessments for
the vacant land.
Mr.Tony Devich asked the City's plans for drainage. Sanders replied
that they are considering a formal ponding area on the north edge of
the property along Edgerton. Mr. John Rada was concerned that this would
put his property in a lower area.
Fahey pointed out that the City has not finalized any plans and that
the DNR has certain requirements that must be met.
Rada asked if the City was going to consider this for skating rinks
during the winter. Jim Morelan replied that this has not been
discussed and felt thatthe City had enough ice available that this
property would not be needed. Morelan also reported that should Kellogg
o correction High School be close~-~'~~e~l-cl-~r~~-he-~r~e-k~ase of the hockey rinks
85-12-570 at Kellogg by the Cit~?e city should pursue the purchase
Ms. Tierney asked if the City did not have enough ballfields at the
Little Canada School. Morelan pointed out that the City does not own
any ballfields and the School District can take those fields away from
the City at any time.
Mrs. Broecker asked if the fields would be designated for any certain
age group. Morelan replied that the City's programs involve a variety
of ages from adults to 6 year olds.
Devich asked plans for sanitation. Fahey replied that the City has
been reluctant to put in permanent toilet facilities in Spooner Park
because the City does not own the park. Mr. Sanders pointed out that
the plan shows a small building on the site that could house toilet
facilities.
Mrs. Ehrnretter pointed out that there is currently a bike path on
Edgerton and traffic problems make this a hazardous situation. Ehrnretter
felt that the addition of the ballfields would make the situation even
more dangerous.
Page -6-
