M19I~lUTES
City Council
Nov. 26, 1985
Ballfields Nardini pointed out that if the fields were lighted, code requires
(Cont.) that the lights would be shielded from the surrounding properties.
Fahey stated that the Council is sensitive to the concerns of the
property owners.
Davich suggested that the parking lot be level with Edgerton so that
there would be visibility for people driving on Edgerton. Mr. Collova
felt that this should be addressed.
Mr. Tulgren stated that he did not want the parking lot level with
Edgerton as he lives across the street from the proposed lot and does
not want to see the parking lot from his home. Tulgren wanted the
lot below grade.
Fahey stated that these issues would be studied further.
Mr. Bill Quirin felt that the ballfields would be a good community
resource and pointed out that there is very little City park property.
Quirin felt that there was no sense in developing industrial property
into ballfields as this property should be used as industrial property
in order to help the tax base in the City.
Quirin did not feel that the additional traffic that the proposal would
add would make much difference and felt that the Highway 61 and 694
interchange will help the traffic situation.
Anne Kellogg asked what offer the City has tendered for the property.
Mr. Fahey suggested that Kellogg be given this information off the
public record.
Kellogg asked if the property would be rezoned. Fahey replied that
it would, but a public hearing would be held.
Mrs. Nardini introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 85-11-550 - CLOSING THE PUBLIC
HEARING ON TNE PROPOSED PURCHASE OF THE JOHNSON
AND MOSTED PROPERTIES FOR DEVELOPMENT AS BALLFIE~DS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey.
Ayes (5) Nardini, Fahey, Collova, Blesener, Scalze.
Nayes (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 12, Page 579.
Mr. Blesener stated that he echoes Mr. Quirin's comments that the
City needs park property of its own. Blesener also did not feel
that industrial property should be used for park property as it is
too expensive.
Page -8-
