MINUTES
City Council
May 14, 1986
Bingo Mr. Short asked if anyone from the City has talked to the City of
(Cont.) St. Paul.
Mr. Fahey reported that City staff has talked to the licensing
inspector in St. Paul as well as some St. Paul Councilpersons.
Mrs. Scalze pointed out that Little Canada has asked for the
financial records from those organizations with pull tab licenses,
and the City has gotten the cooperation of these groups.
Fahey stated that the City would expect no less from these groups
and the City wants a cooperative venture.
Blesener asked if the City has received the report from the Sheriff's
Department. The City Clerk replied that this report has not yet
been received. Blesener suggested that no decisions be made until
after this information is received.
Blesener commented that on the 20th he was not in favor of considering
any organization that did not benefit Little Canada. Blesener did
not feel that Little C~nada should have to put up with this type of
business to subsidize playgrounds in St. Paul. Blesener stated that
Little Canada is already subsidizing St. Paul in storm sewer overflow
charges, the price it pays for water, as well as the St. Paul Water
tJorks property running through the City. Blesener stated that he
will not vote for any organization outside the City.
P1rs. Scalze agreed. Scalze stated that if Little Canada has to put
up with the added traffic, etc., the organizations should be contri-
butors to Little Canada.
Mr. Fahey was not in agreement on this point.
Ms. Nardini introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 86-5-182 - CALLING A SPECIAL
MEETING FOR MAY 20, 1986 AT 7:30 P.M. TO
CONSIDER A CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT PUD ON
THE NORTHWESTERN ftELL PROPERTY FOR THF
PURPOSE OF OPERATING A BINGO HALL ON THAT
PROPERTY BY VARIOUS CHARITABLE ORGANIZATIONS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova.
Ayes (4) Nardini, Collova, Scalze, Fahey.
Nays (1) Blesener.
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution book No. 13, Page 180.
Page -16-
