Hyland stated that the property is
Scalze pointed out that the property has been zoned industrial
since 1964.
Fahey stated that if the property owners in the area are not in
favor of the rezoning, that is fine. However, it may be difficult
for the City to address the issue of DeSoto in the future as there
may only be one side of DeSoto Avenue to assess when the street is
improved.
Hyland pointed out that there is a very old tree in the area that
would have to be removed should DeSoto be improved. Hyland also
stated that if sewer and water were brought in the area, it should
not be positioned to chop up properties. Nyland stated that he
was against the rezoning.
Mr. Slim Frattalone pointed out that the property is zoned agricultural.
Council disagreed.
There was no one else from the audience wishing to comment.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 86-7-330 - CLOSING THE
PUBLIC HEARING ON THE REZONING OF CERTAIN
PORTIONS OF THE I-P DISTRICT TO R-1
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Fahey, Scalze, Collova, Nardini.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 15, Page 387.
Scalze pointed out that the matter was tabled by the Planning
Commission and they had 60 days in which to act on it.
Fahey suggested that the Council not refer the matter back to
the Planning Commission, but act on it as there has been a lot
of input from the property owners against the proposal.
Blesener and Nardini both indicated that they were opposed to
the rezoning. Blesener felt that the City should work with
developers as they come in and that the Council can stay on top
of the situation.
Page -10-
