MINUTES
City Council
Jan. 28, 1987
Bingo Mr. Fahey reported that the Little Canada Charitable Bingo
Accounting Organization has contacted the City's Auditor inviting him to
Review review their books. Fahey recommended that the Auditor be
authorized on behalf of the City to meet with the Organization
Agenda and review their accounting system and determine if their
Addition bookkeeping system has been set up properly.
Scalze questioned by the Bingo Organization contacted the City
Auditor.
Fahey replied that after the previous Council meeting at which
bingo was discussed, Fahey had a brief conversation with Organization
members at which time the suggestion was made that the City Auditor
should take a look at their books. Nowever, the Auditor would not
be serving on the Bingo Organization's Board of Directors, but would
be hired by the City to review accounting practices. Fahey felt
that the books of the Bingo Organization should be reviewed
quarterly.
Scalze suggested that if the City Auditor is not familiar with
the accounting system of a bingo operation, perhaps he could
recommend someone who was.
Fahey replied that the Auditor has assured him that he is familiar
with this type of accounting system.
Fahey again stated that this would not be an audit at this time,
but rather a review of the accounting system to determine if it
has been set up properly.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-1-37 - AUTHORIZING THE
CITY AUDITOR TO REVIEW THE ACCOUNTI~IG SYSTEM
OF THE LITTLE CANADA CHARITABLE BINGO ORGANIZATION
ON BEHALF OF THE CITY AND REPORT TO THE COUNCIL
AT THE NEXT COUNCIL MEETING
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Collova, LaValle, Scalze, Blesener.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 38.
Mrs. Scalze suggested that the Council hold a work session to
discuss questions and concerns regarding Little Canada Charitable
Bingo prior to the February 11, 1987 Council meeting.
LaValle reported that he met with the Charitable Gambling Control
Page -15-
