MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Feb. 25, 1987 <br />Tripod <br />(Cont.) <br />Curbside <br />Recycling <br />Program <br />Agenda <br />T.tem No. 12b <br />RESOLIITION N0. 87-2-83 - APPROVING THE <br />PURCHASE OF A TRIPOD FROM VIKING SAFETY <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $875.00 <br />The foregoing resoltuion was duly seconded by Mr. LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, LaValle, Collova, Fahey, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 88. <br />Mr. Blesener reported that there are County funds available for <br />establishment of a curbside recycling program in the City. It <br />was noted that this program will become mandatory in the next few years, <br />and Council felt that the City should proceed with establishment of <br />the program. <br />Scalze reported that the City of North Oaks has established a <br />program that is working well. Scalze suggested that the City's <br />Solid Waste Committee check into this program. <br />Council discussed the City's administration costs of the program, <br />and felt they would be minimal pointing out that the program <br />can be advertised through notices in sewer billings, newspaper <br />articles and Cable 7V. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-2-84 - HAVING THE CITY'S <br />SOLID IdASTE COMMITTEE MAKE APPLICATION FOR <br />COUNTY FUNDS TO ESTABLISH A CURBSIDE RECYCLING <br />PROGRAM IN THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Fahey, Scalze, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 89. <br />Storage Mr. Collova suggested that the proposal for an ordinance regulating <br />Of Firewood the storage of firewood be tabled until he can discuss the matter <br /> with the Building Inspector. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 13a <br />Fahey reported that he had questions with this <br />proposal as <br />to why <br /> firewood needed to be stored 12 inches from th e ground and the <br /> preclusion from storing wood in a sidelot and only in the rearyard. <br /> Fahey felt this was too restrictive. <br />Page -15- <br />
