MINUTES <br />City Council <br />April 8, 1987 <br />Payne Avenue The Engineer reported that he has received the results of the soil <br />borings that were done on Payne Avenue, and he will have a recommendation <br />Agenda for presentation to the Council at the next meeting. <br />Addition <br />Scalze asked who would pay for an improvement ~f one is ordered. <br />The Engineer replied that it is his understanding that the City would <br />pick up the cost as the majority of the damage was caused by <br />developers using the street. <br />Collova felt that repair of the street should be delayed until <br />construction in the area is completed. <br />Bingo Blesener suggested that the City obtain an opinion from Roger Frank <br />(Cont.) on the concerns raised about LCCB. <br />Fahey pointed out that the City Attorney has indicated that the <br />most worthwhile opinion would come from the Attorney General's <br />office. <br />Elections Fahey reported that there is pending legislation to change election <br />laws and the timing of when various elections would be held. <br />Agenda <br />Addition Council discussed this matter, and it was the concensus of the <br />Council that elections should be held in even-numbered years to <br />coincide with State and National Elections as there are higher <br />numbers of voter turnouts at these elections. <br />Mr. Fahay introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. H7-4-139 - AUTHORIZING THE <br />CITY CLERK TO INFORM OUR LEGISLATORS AS WELL <br />AS WILLIAM LUTHER THAT THE COUNCIL UNANYMOUSLY <br />SUPPORTS PENDING ELECTION LEGISLATION, BUT FEELS <br />TNAT ELECTIONS SHOULD BE HELD IN THE EVEN-NUMBERED <br />YEARS TO COINCIDE WITH STATE AND NATIONAL E~ECTIONS <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Scalze, Collova, Blesener, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 152. <br />Land & Fahey reported that he received a letter from Lt. Governor P9arlene <br />Water Johnson requesting the Council's support of the Land and Water <br />Conservation Conservation Fund Program. <br />Fund <br />Agenda <br />Addition Page -29- <br />
