MINUTES <br />City Council <br />April 8, 1987 <br />Imp. No. RESOLUTION N0. 87-4-132 - CLOSING THE <br />87_4 PUBLIC HEARING ON PROPOSED IMPROVEMENT <br />(Cont.l N0. 87-4, COUNTRY DRIVE FROM LITTLE <br />CANADA ROAD TO SOUTH OWASSO BLVD. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Collova, Scalze, LaValle, Fahey. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 144. <br />Scalze noted that all the property owners present are opposed to <br />the improvement. <br />The Engineer pointed out that once the Little Canada Road bridge <br />is widened, this would be the on1y section of Country Drive that <br />will not be improved. The Engineer pointed out that the road will <br />have to be improved sooner or later, and the cost will be more in <br />the future. <br />Scalze noted that this section of Country Drive abutts the last <br />few large pieces of property left in the City, and noted that <br />these properties are now on the market. Scalze felt that the <br />City should market these properties and should seek marketing <br />associations to do so. <br />LaValle suggested that the improvement be deferred until such <br />time as there is interest in the property. <br />Fahey asked for the Engineer's recommendation on whether the road <br />should be improved this year or not. <br />The Engineer stated that it is the recommendation of his office, <br />as well as Public Works that the improvement should be ordered. <br />The Engineer pointed out the amount of traffic on Country Drive <br />as well as the maintenance costs for this street. <br />Collova noted that with the price of oil down, the price of <br />constructing road is also down. The Engineer agreed. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-4-133 - ORDERING IMPROVEMENT <br />N0. 87-4, THE IMPROVEMENT OF COUNTRY DRIVE FROM <br />LITTLE CANADA ROAD TO SOUTH OWASSO BLVD. BY <br />GRADING, STORM SEWER, GRAVEL BASE, BITUMINOUS <br />SURFACE AND CONCRETE CURB AND GUTTER, IN <br />ACCORDANCE WITH MUNICIPAL STATE AID STANDARDS <br />AND WITH THE DELETION OF THE SANITARY SEWER <br />PORTION OF THE PROJECT WHICH IS AT THE REQUEST <br />OF DON GAGNE <br />Page -5- <br />
