MINUTES
City Council
May 12, 1987
Fahey asked if Butler would be in favor of a recreational facility
located adjacent to his development.
Butler stated that he would be in favor of this, but felt that if
the soil conditions were good on the property to the south, the
property would be very expensive land to use for parks.
Collova reported that the City previously looked at the land in this
area for park property, however, determined that it was too expensive.
Now P4r. Lee has indicated that soils may not be acceptable for
industrial development, and the City is reconsidering the area.
Blesener suggested that the City have a few test holes dug to
determine soil conditions. Blesener indicated that some tests should
be done on the north and some on the south.
Collova stated that he was not in favor of testing the north property
The City Engineer felt that 5 test holes on the southern three parcels
would be adequate to survey the property.
Butler suggested that the f,ity test the property to the north, and
pointed out that if the City doesn't test this area, he probably will.
The Council felt that Mr. Butler could work jointly with the City
in having the area tested as it woul~ be less expensive for ~utler
to have his tests done at the same time the City is doing their's.
Peter Costa stated that he was totally against a recreational facility
being located on the property west of him, namely the Fasciana, 8ibeau
and Frattalone property.
Fahey asked if the property owners on the south would cooperate in
having their property tested.
Frattalone stated that he would as long astests were not done in his
fields which have been planted. Bibeau and Fasciana were agreeable
as well.
Fahey indicated that the Council will take action on this matter at
its May 13 Council meeting.
The next item for consideration is the formation of a community
development corporation. Mike Plaroney of Business Development
Services appeared before the Council and submitted a proposal dated
April 30, 1987 outlining the services his firm could provide in
this regard.
Page -6-
