MINUTES
City Council
May 13, 1987
Street The City Clerk thought that an ordinance may have to be drawn up
Lighting to allow the City the authority to assess the cost of operation of
In the additional street lights.
Westwinds
(cont.) The City Attorney agreed that a new ordinance would have to be
enacted and the City would have to hold an assessment hearing
at the time it wanted to assess the costs. The Attorney pointed
out that the City can assess for up to a 5-year period. The Attorney
suggested that he research this matter.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION PJO. 87-5-209 - APPROVING THE
ADDITIONAL STREET LIGHTS REQUESTED BY THE
WESTWINDS DEVELOPMENT SUBJECT TO STUDY
BY THE CITY ATTORNEY OF THE FEASIBILITY OF
INSTALLATION OF THESE LIGHTS BEING PAID
FOR BY THE DEVELOPER AND THE COST OF RUNNING
TNE ADDITIONAL LIGHTS OVER THE CITY'S LIGHTING
POLICY BEING PAID FOR BY THE HOMEOWNERS ON A
YEARLY BASIS
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova.
Ayes (5) Scalze, Collova, LaValle, Blesener, Fahey.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 17, Page 227.
Blesener pointed out that similar requests may be coming from other
new developments in the City, and the operation of these additional
lights could become quite costly to the City, if not assessed back
to the property owners.
IAoodpiles Fahey reviewed the information submitted by theCounty Health Department
regarding diseases carried by rodents as well as their recommendation
Agenda for the enactment of an ordinance regulating the storage of wood.
Item No. 17a
Based on the information received from the County as well as the
recommendation of the Building Inspector, Fahey suggested that
City ordinance require that woodpiles be elevatedat.heights of at
least 8 inches, or stored on an impervious surface, and that a woodpile
be allowed in the side or rear yard, however, not within the required
side or rear yard setback.
Blesener felt that City ordinance should set some minimum distance
that a woodpile can be located next to a residence.
Council felt that a distance of 1 foot should be required between
residences and woodpiles.
Page -14-
