MINUTES <br />City Council <br />June 10, 1987 <br />Bingo <br />(Cont.) <br />tJylie felt that the matter should be tabled until the rotation <br />agreement is prepared, and noted that during that time the new <br />lease could be reviewed by the other 4 charities. <br />P9r. Short pointed out that he already has 5 out of 7 possible <br />applicants. Short asked if it were up to him or the Council to <br />determine which applicants ~vere not desirable. <br />Fahey pointed out that Mr. Short had the first review of applicants. <br />Benson pointed out that the State Gambling Control Board also had <br />a review of the applicants. <br />Fahey stated that he would like to see documentation that a rotation <br />schedule has been worked out. <br />Scalze pointed out that the license renewal is for a one-year period, <br />and if the rotation does not work out, then the licenses will not be <br />renewed at the end of the year. <br />Lois Blomberg, representing St. Joseph's Society, pointed out that it <br />is very important that the charities operate similar games so that <br />they are not competing with themselves. <br />Blesener felt that when the Council received the rotation agreement <br />it would write a letter to the State Gambling Control Board waiving <br />its 30-day veto period if everything is acceptable. <br />Fahey felt the Council could authorize the Mayor and City Clerk to <br />waive any contingencies by letter to the Board once this information <br />is submitted. <br />Mr. Babel suggested that the rotation schedule be set up on a 7-day <br />rotation basis in anticipation of other charities filling the hall. <br />Fahey agreed. <br />Mr. LaValle introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-6-248 - APPROVING THE <br />CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSE APPLICATIONS <br />SUBPIITTED BY THE SERVANTS OF MARY AND ST. <br />JOSEPH'S SOCIETY CONTINGENT UPON SUBMISSION <br />OF THESE APPLICATIONS TO THE STATE GAMBLING <br />CONTROL BOARD WITH A COPY OF TNE LEASE WITH <br />MOVERS WAREHOUSE THAT WAS PRESENTED TO THE <br />COUNCIL AT TONIGNT'S MEETING, AND CONDITIOMED <br />UPON SUBMISSION TO THE CITY OF A ROTATI0~1 SCHEDULE <br />WHICH IS ACCEPTABLE TO THE CHARITIES NO LATER THAN <br />JUNE 24, 1987 AND FlLSO CONDITIONED THAT THE CHARITIES <br />OPERATE TNE SAME TYPE OF GAMES, AND THE P4AYOR AND <br />CITY CLERK ARE HEREBY AUTNORIZED TO REMOVE THESE <br />CONTINGENCIES BY LETTER TO THE STATE GAMBLING <br />Paqe -9- <br />
