MIP,!UTES
City Council
June 24, 1987
Rusch Collova stated that he would be in favor of the variance request
Variance if topography warranted it, however, there was no reason why the
(Cont.) garage could not be moved over 5 feet to meet setback requirements.
~1r. Collova introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-6-283 - DEPIYING THE
VARI~NCE RFQUEST OF THERAPI RUSCH FOR
GARAGE LOCATION OP! HIS PROPERTY AT 2731
LAKESHOR.E FlVENUE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (5) Collova, alesener, Fahey, LaValle, Scalze.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book Plo. 17, Page 30II.
Rezoning Mr. Bob DeBace, representing St. John's Credit Union, appeared before
Of St. the Council requesting the rezoning of the St. John's Credit Union
John's property from B-3 to RB. DeQace pointed out that there is an apartment
Credit unit in the lower level of the building, and the RB zoning would be
Union more appropriate for the use of the building.
Agenda DeQace also explained that St. John's Credit Union has plans for the
Item ~lo. 10 expansion of the back of the building, and as the use of the site is
non-conforming under D-3 zoning, the rezoning to RB was suggested by
the City Planner. DeBace reported that while the expansion takes place,
St. John's would like to retain its tenants as it likes the idea of
having someone in the building during evening hours, and also has a
3-year lease with the tenants.
Scalze felt RB zonino was appropriate for the site.
DeBace reported that Joe Collova, the adjacent property owner, has
no objection to the rezoning.
Fahey asked if St. John's was interested in the rezoning even if
the expansion was not approved.
DeBace reported that the rezoning was suggested by the City Planner,
and the building expansion plans will come before the Council next
month.
Fahey suggested that perhaps tax increment financing would be a good
idea in this situation.
Scalze felt that with tax increment financing the building should be
torn doian and a new one constructed.
DeBace reported that the building is of masonry and steel construction
and there are no plans to tear it down.
Page -15-
