MINUTES
City Council
July 8, 1987
Sound
Barrier
(Cont.)
Romerowski felt that the issue of State participation should be pushed.
Scalze also felt the Engineer should try to get the State to agree to
access from the highway for dumping of dirt.
Romerowksi felt that there was no alternative to dumping from the
freeway and pointed out that the condition of Twin Lake ~31vd. and Twin
Lake Trail were poor.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-7-305 - REQUESTING THE
CITY ENGINEER TO RESUBMIT THE PETITION
RECEIVED FROM THE TWIN LAKE TRAIL PROPERTY
OWNERS TO THE STATE FOR CONSTRUCTION OF A
BERM ON STATE HIGHWAY DEPARTPIENT RIGHT-OF-bIAY
41ITN MINIM1IAL ASSISTANCE FROP1 THE CITY, AS IdELL
AS INSTRUCTING THE CITY ENGINEER TO APPLY FOR
THE NECESSARY PERMITS FROPM THE STATE FOR THIS
BERP1, AND FURTHER REQUESTIPJG THE CITY ENGINEER
TO PREPARE A FEASIBILITY REPORT FOR THIS PROJECT
SHOULD THE STATE REFUSE TO PARTICIPATE IN THE
COST
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Pages 329 and 330:
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. LaValle.
Ayes (4) Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Collova.
Frank Frattalone asked if this project would hold up the Demont
project and noted that he would like to begin work on Demont the
following week.
LaValle stated that he would like to see the Engineer make the effort
to get the necessary permits and some State participation to get the
project started so that some of the excess tlirt from the Demont
project could be used in the berm.
Scalze noted that if dirt cannot be obtained from the Demont project,
the cost of the project will increase.
Bergeron noted that the matter has been discussed for the past 3 or 4
monthsand it should be no surprise to anyone that the City was considering
using the dirt from the Demont project for this berm.
The City Engineer replied that he will contact the State tomorrow.
LaValle felt that the permit could be obtained quickly, but a decision
on whether or not the State will participate would not be as quick.
Scalzerequested that the Engineer report at the next Council meeting.
Danp -5-
