MINUTES
City Council
August 12, 1987
School open-mind and good rapport with the School Board and School District.
Building
Committee Fahey pointed out that both Mr. Blesener and P1rs. Scalze have indicated
(Cont.) a willingness to serve on this Comnittee. Fahey reported that the
matter had been discussed at a recent Council workshop meeting and it
was his impression that the concensus of the Council was to appoint
Mrs. Scalze to the committee.
LaValle also pointed out that at this workshop meeting the Council
discussed the City's setting of priorities for the use of the Capital
View building and that the committee members would not be making
decisions on behalf of the Council, but would be bringing matters
back to the Council for action.
Fahey agreed that decisions would be made by the Council, but felt
the person appointed to the Committee had to be open-minded and
flexible in working with the School District in finding alternative
uses for the building.
Blesener suggested that Mr. Collova be appointed to the Committee.
Collova indicated that he is interested in serving on the Committee.
LaValle again suggested that priority items be set by the Council
for possible use of the Capital View building.
Fahey suggested that the Committee explore possible alternative uses
and bring suggestions back to the Council. Fahey also indicated that
he was opposed to Mr. Collova's appointment to the Committee only
because he thought the Council previously decided on the appointment.
However, Fahey stated that he would serve with whomever the Council
appoints by majority vote.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-8-365 - APPOINTING MIKE
FAHEY AND RICK COLLOVA TO THE CAPITAL VIEW
SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova.
Ayes (2) Blesener, Collova.
Nays (3) Fahey, Scalze, LaValle.
Resolution denied.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 391.
Collova suggested that more than two representatives of the City Council
be appointed to the Committee.
Fahey replied that the School District has suggested two representatives
and also that they suggested he and Mr. Blesener be appointed to the
Committee.
Page -12-
