MINUTES
City Council
August 12, 1987
School Fahey pointed out that three representatives of the Council would
Building constitute a quorum.
Committee
(Cont.) Scalze suggested that rather than going through the process with a
Committee that the use of the building be reviewed at a joint workshop
of the Council and School District.
Council discussed this suggestion, with Fahey commenting that he
felt more could be accomplished with the Committee process than
through workshops.
Blesener felt that a smaller Committee would be a good sounding board
for possible uses of the Capital View building.
Scalze stated that she felt the two Councilmembers on the Committee
should report back to the Council and not make any decisions on behalf
of the Council.
Fahey commented that he was not aware previously that Mr. Collova
wished to serve on this Gommittee.
Blesener commented that he did not have a great desire to serve on
the Committee, but was asked to do so. Blesener stated that he did
have a desire that the members of the Committee be receptive to ideas
and not have any preconceived ideas.
Scalze felt it non-productive to squabble over who would serve on the
Committee and that it unfortunate that not everyone on the Council is
considered open-minded, which she believed all the Councilmembers to be.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-8-366 - APPOINTING MIKE
FAHEY AND RICK COLLOVA TO THE CAPITAL VIEW
SCHOOL BUILDING COMMITTEE
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (4) Scalze, Blesener, Collova, Fahey.
Nays (1) LaValle.
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 392.
fahey felt that it would not be appropriate for the Committee to meet
with any developers as the decision has not been made by the School
Board to sell the Capital View building. Fahey felt that meetings
should only include the Committee members and representatives of the
School Board.
6lesener felt one priority of the Committee should be to provide the
same services to the east side of the district as are being provided
to the west side of the district.
Page -13-
