PIINUTES
City Council
Sept. 23, 1987
Slumberland LaValle asked if the size of the sign could be scaled down and the
(Cont.) corporate-logo still maintained.
Lange felt the readability of the sign from the freeway would be
diminished.
Fahey asked what the increased readability of the sign was with a
height of 40 feet.
Lange felt the height variance would simply allow the sign to be
more easily understood, and the sign area variance would present
a stronger image.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-9-439 - CLOSING THE
PUBLIC HEARING ON THE SLUMBERLAND REQUEST
FOR SIGN VARIANCES
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener, Scalze, Collova, LaValle.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page h64.
Fahey pointed out that both the Planning Commission and Planner have
recommended that the sign height variance be approved. Fahey stated
that he felt the topography of the site was such to warrant a sign
height variance.
Mrs. Scalze introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 87-9-440 - DENYING THE
SLUMBERLAND SIGN HEIGNT VARIANCE AS
REQUESTED
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Blesener.
Ayes (2) Scalze, Blesener.
Nays (3) Fahey, Collova, LaValle.
Resolution denied.
This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 465.
Fahey pointed out that it will take four affirmative votes of the
Council to pass a variance request.
Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
Page -3-
