MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Sept. 30, 1987 <br />Fahey suggested that Glanzer~ put his justification for• an additional <br />full-time employee in writing for• the Council to r•eview. <br />Blesener• suggested that the salar•y budgeted for• the additional <br />employee r•emain in the budget at this time. <br />LaValle repor•ted that he is wor~king on the issue of compar•able <br />worth for• the City. laValle felt that once that issue is r•esolved, <br />i t wi 11 r•esol ve a 1 ot of questi ons wi th r•eqar~d to the sal ar•ies of <br />the office staff. Until such time, LaValle r~ecommended 4% incr•eases <br />for~ the office staff which includes Annette Fr•eeman, Kr•is VanSchoon- <br />hoven, Fiev Jesper•sen ancl Grace elesener•. <br />Fahey asked if LaValle had r~eviewed individual salar•ies and job <br />classifications. <br />LaValle r•eplied that he had not due to the compar•able wor•th issue, <br />which he believed would effect all the office staff's salar~ies. <br />Bl esener• r~epor•ted that he had r•evi ewed the sal ar•i es and ~ ob descr•i p- <br />tions for• the office staff and pr•esented his findings and r~ecommend- <br />ations to the Council. <br />Blesener• r~eviewed the job classification and salary of Annette Fr•eeman <br />which Blesener• indicated was above the mean salar•y listed in the Metr•o <br />Salary Survey. ftlesener recommended a 4% salary increase for Freeman. <br />Council agreed. <br />Rlesener reviewed the job classification and salary of Kris VanSchoon- <br />hoven compar~ed with the salar•y for~ the same position as indicated by <br />the P1etr~o Salary Survey. Blesener recommended that Van Schoonhoven's <br />sal ar~y be i ncr•eased to $8.40 per~ hour~. <br />Council agreed. <br />Rlesener• also r~ecommended 4% salar~y incr•eases for~ Bev Jesper•sen and <br />Gr~ace Blesener•, which Council was agr•eeable to. <br />LaValle r~ecommended a 4% salar•y incr•ease for~ Kathy Glanzer~. Council <br />agr•eed. <br />Council then r~eviewed the salary and job classification of the City <br />Clerk, Joe Chlebeck. Blesener recommended that the Clerk's iob <br />classification be set at #67. Council agr~eed. <br />Fahey indicated that ther•e is need for• impr•ovement in the City <br />Clerk's Job performance and cited various instances where this has <br />come to the Council's attention. However•, a 4% salar~y incr•ease was <br />appr•oved for• the Ci ty C1 er~k for~ 19f38. <br />alesener~ r•ecommended that the city incr•ease its par•t-time salar•.y <br />scale to reflect recent increases in minimum wage, and Roger Glanzer <br />and Jim Morelan were advised to put a revised part-time salary scal~ <br />together. <br />Page -7- <br />
