MIPIUTES <br />City Council <br />Sept. 30, 1987 <br />Council reviewed the City Garage budget at $6,900.00 for 1988 versus <br />$9,200 for 1987. <br />The Public Wor•ks Super•intendent also r•epor~ted that ther•e was $20,000 <br />budgeted i n Capi tal Improvements for• a burgl ar~ al ar•m and spr•i nkl er• <br />system for• the gar~age. <br />Council appr•oved the City Gar•age por•tion of the budget as submitted. <br />Pr•otective Inspections was r•eviewed and it was noted that the Re9ular• <br />Employee salar•y amount would be changed to $23,350. Also, PERA and <br />FICA line items would change thr~oughout the budget to r•eflect the <br />salaries approved by the Council. <br />Council appr•oved the Pr•otective Inspections por•tion of the budget with <br />the amenc~ment to Regular• Employee salar•y as pr•eviously discussed. <br />The Fir•e Mar•shal budget was next consider•ed with $12,050.00 budgeted <br />for~ 1988 ver•sus $11,005.00 for• 1987. This por•tion of the budget was <br />appr•oved. <br />Emer•gency Ser•vices/Civil Defense budget at $5,925 for 1988 ver•sus <br />$8,012 was appr•oved as submitted. <br />Next consider•ed was the Animal Contr•ol budget at $6,000.00 for• 1988 <br />versus $4,164.00 for 1987. The City Clerk reported that the City <br />has r•ecei ved a contr~act wi th Anderson Patr•ol Ser•vi ce fr•om Rl ai ne to <br />provide animal contr•ol ser~vices for~ the ar•ea at a cost of $527.00 <br />per• month. The C1 er•k r~epor•ted that he wi 11 amend thi s por~ti on of the <br />budget to r~eflect this change. <br />Next consider•ed was Recr~eation budgeted at R59,400 for~ 198II ver•sus <br />$66,601 for~ 1987. Jim Mor•elan r•epor•ted that the salar~y amount <br />budgeted for~ Regular• Employee should be $24,000 and the amount <br />budgeted for• Tempor•ar•y Employees should be $18,000. <br />Scalze repor•ted that ther•e is $21,500 budgeted for• Recr•eation Capital <br />Impr~ovements which is reflected in the Capital Improvements portion <br />of the budget. <br />Council appr•oved the Recr•eation budget with the salar•y changes as <br />r~eflected by Jim Mor•elan. <br />Next consider•ed was the Par•ks Budget at $23,345 for~ 1988 ver•sus <br />$38,796.00. Scalze reported that there is $58,500 in capital <br />impr~ovements r•eflected for• par~ks in the Capital Impr•ovements Rudget. <br />Scalze also r~epor•ted that one of these capital impr~ovement items is <br />$5,000 for• a par~k sur•vey. Scalze suggested that if the Council is <br />i nter~ested i n i ncl udi ng other~ ar•eas of the Ci ty i n such a sur•vey i t <br />can do so for about $3,000. <br />Council discussed the need for~ a par~k sur•vey, with Scalze suggesting <br />Page -9- <br />
