MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Oct. 14, 1987 <br />Costa felt the adjacent pr•oper•ty owner•s deser•ved some pr•otection. <br />Fahey noted that ther•e is buffer•ing shown on the concept plans, <br />but noted that it would not be feasible to put a par•king lot in <br />the center• of the pr•oper•ty. Fahey stated that the City would want <br />to develop the ar•ea in a fir•st-class manner• which ever~yone could <br />be pr•oud of. <br />Jim Mor~elan, Par~k and Recr•eation Director•, stated that he agr•eed <br />with ever•ything in the Recr•eation Association's Apr~il, 1987 letter•. <br />In r•ebuttle to the unsigned letter•, Mor~elan stated that there ar~e <br />non-r•esident ballplayer•s on leagues using fields in the City, but <br />this is tr•ue of ever•y community. Mor~elan pointed out that ther•e <br />ar~e 24 Little Canada childr•en playing football in Roseville's <br />pr~ogr•am. <br />Mor•elan also r•epor•ted that he and the Recr~eation Association have <br />looked for other~ available land in the City, and there is none. <br />The Center•ville Road pr•oper•ty appear•s to be the only feasible choice. <br />Fahey asked those pr•esent to r•aise their~ hands if they wer•e in favor• <br />of the pr•oposal . Numer•ous hands wer~e r•ai sed. Fahey asked for~ those <br />opposed to the pr~oposal. Ther•e wer•e none. <br />Ther~e was no one else pr~esent wishing to addr•ess the Council on this <br />matter•. <br />Mr~. Fahey intr•oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 87-10-485 - CLOSING THE <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE CENTERVILLE ROAD <br />PARK PROPOSAL <br />The for~egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr~. Blesener•. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Blesener, LaValle, Scalze, Collova. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declar•ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appears in Resolution Book No. 18, Page 512. <br />Fahey pointed out that the Council has hear•d the ar•guments for• and <br />against the pr•oposal. The Auditor• has also indicated that the <br />pur•chase of the pr•oper•ty is financially feasible. <br />Fahey stated that he suppor~ted the City's author•izing the City <br />Attor•ney to pur•sue opti on agr•eements on the Center~vi 11 e Road ar•ea <br />pr•oper~ty. Fahey stated that he under•stood the ar~guments r•aised <br />by Mr. Butler regarding increasing the City's tax base, however, <br />pointed out that under~ those ar•guments no cities would ever• acquir~e <br />par•k pr~oper~ty. <br />Page -9- <br />
