MINUTES
City Council
Nov. 4, 1987
E~
Dr~ainage
Matter~
Cont.)
of the Eng home.
Scalze asked if anything could be done with the culver•ts on County
Road B-2 to help the pr•oblem.
The Engineer• did not think so pointing out that the bottom of the
culver•ts ar~e at the 859.7 elevation which is a foot above the lake.
If the culver•ts wer•e any deeper•, this would not help.
Scalze asked if the system dir~ects water• easily into the pond.
The Engineer• r•eplied that it did.
Fahey asked if the size culvert
adequate, noting that ther•e ar•e
water• into this one culvert.
under~ Mr•. Hammond's dr~iveway was
thr•ee 12-inch culver•ts dir~ecting
The Engi neer~ r~epl i ed that the cul ver•t under• the Hammond' s dr~i veway
is a 24-inch culver•t which had adequate capacity to handle 3 12-inch
cul ver•ts.
Fahey asked who would pay for• the dike system suggested by the Engineer•.
The Engineer• r•eplied that the dike system could be paid for~ jointl,y
be the City, Water•shed, County and State as was done in the case of
the Sleepy Hollow impr•ovement.
Mr~. Eng felt that if the thr•ee culver•ts were moved so that they lined
up closer• to the pond, this would help r•esolve the pr•oblem. Eng also
suggested that the culver~t further~ east on County Road B-2 could be
lined up better• with the channel into the pond. Eng also felt that
the cur•bing in fr~ont of his pr•oper•ty could be impr~oved. Eng pointed
out that the cur~bi ng i s cur•r~ently di r~ecti ng water• i nto hi s pr~oper~ty.
Eng pointed out that it is not the water• fr•om the lake that is a pr~oblem
for him, but r•ather• the water• that is coming both sides of the hill on
County Road B-2.
Fahey asked how long the level of the lake has been higher• than that
of the pond.
The Engineer was not sure.
Fahey asked if the filling of the Hammond pr•oper•ty contr•ibuted to the
problem.
The Engineer• pointed out that when Hammond was allowed to fill his
pr•oper~ty, he was al so r•equi r•ed to di g a 1 ar•ger• pond to make up the
di ffer~ence.
Eng felt that Hammond filled mor•e than he was per•mitted to.
The Engineer• r•eplied that this would have been checked by the Water•shed.
Page -10-
