MINUTES City Council Nov. 4, 1987 Hi r•i ng Fahey r•epor•ted that the Ci ty r•ecei ved 96 appl i cati ons for• the posi ti on Cler~k/Typist of Cler•k/Typist that the City r•ecently adver•tised. Fahey fur•ther• r~epor•ted that the top 10 candidates for• the position wer~e inter•viewed, Agenda and the City Cler•k has submitted a list of the top 4 choices for~ that Item No. 16a position. The Clerk r•epor•ted that the 4 candidates ar~e in pr~iority or~der•, however•, he still has to check the r~eferences for~ these candidates. The Cler•k suggested that if the r•efer~ences of the fir•st candidate ar~e acceptable, the position be offered to that per•son. If not, the job would be offer~ed to the next per~son on the 1 i st i f her• r~efer~ences wer~e acceptabl e. Mr~. LaValle intr~oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 87-11-541 - AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO NIRE A FULL-TIME CLERK/TYPIST AT A SALARY OF $6.50 PER NOUR AS HE FEELS APPROPRIATE FROM THE LIST OF THE TOP FOUR APPLICANTS FOR THAT POSITION The foregoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr~. Blesener•. Ayes (5)LaValle, Blesener, Collova, Scalze, Fahey. Nays (0). Resolution declar•ed adopted. This resolution appears in Resolution Qook No. 18, Page 591. Ramse Fahey r•epor•ted that the City of Mounds View r~ecently adopted a r•esolution County outlining their~ position on the issue of Ramsey County Libr•ar~y develop- Libr~ar•y ment. Mounds View has asked for~ Little Canada suppor~t of their position. Development The Council discussed the Mounds View r•esolution in detail and passed Agenda the following r•esolution which is basically the same as the Mounds ,4ddition View r•esolution with some minor• changes. Mr•. Fahey intr•oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTIOt~I N0. 87-11-542 - SUPPORTING THE RAMSEY COUNTY LIBRARY DEVELOPMENT I~NEREAS, It is the charge and desire of the Ramsey County Library Boar~d to pl an and pr•ovi de for• the 1 i br•ar•y needs of al l of Ramsey County, and WHEREAS, The Libr~ar•y Boar•d adopted on September~ 8, 1987 Resolution 9-8-87 which, if implemented, is intended to accomplish this goal; and WHEREAS, It is the r•esponsibility of the Ramsey County Board to deter~mine the level of funding for• the Libr•ar•y Boar•d for• the maintenance, oper~ation and constr•uction of libr•ar~y facilities; and Page -17-
