MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Dec. 9, 1987 <br />Vacation The for~egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr~. Collova. <br />Of Lake Str~. Ayes (4) LaValle, Collova, Scalze, Fahey. <br />(Cont.) Nays (0). <br />Resolution declar•ed adopted. <br />This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book ~lo. 18, Page 620. <br />The City Cler~k r•epor~ted that all abutting proper•ty owner~s will be <br />notified by mail of the public hear•ing. <br />DNR Flood The City Engineer• submitted a letter~ dated December• n, 1987 outlining <br />Gr•ants the DNR Flood Gr•ant pr•ogr•am and possible pr•ojects within the City <br />that might qualify for• this gr•ant money. <br />Agenda <br />Item No. 6 Scalze felt that the suggestion of topogr•aphical maps for• the entir~e <br />City was a good one. <br />Fahey suggested that the Eng dr~ainage problem on County Road B-2 would <br />be the highest pr•ior~ity item for• use of this gr•ant money. <br />The City Engineer~ pointed out that ther~e is a December• 31, 1987 deadline <br />for~ submitting gr•ant applications which would not give the City a lot of <br />time to put an application together•. The Engineer• suggested that he <br />talk to the DNR and find out if the Eng dr~ainage pr•oblem would qualify <br />for~ the gr•ant pr~ogr•am. <br />Fahey asked the Engineer• what the City's obligation was to assist the <br />Fng's when it is obvious that their~ house is too low. <br />The Engineer• pointed out that the gr•ant can only be used to fund half <br />the cost of a pr•oject, and the City would have to either~ pay the other• <br />half or• come up with a way to fund the other• half of the cost of the <br />project. <br />The Counci 1 r•evi ewed the Engi neer•' s suggesti ons for~ cor•r~ecti ng the <br />Eng dr•ainage pr•oblem. <br />The Engineer• suggested that the City talk to the Eng's to deter•mine if <br />they ar•e interested in his suggestions. <br />Fahey pointed out that the Engineer~'s suggestion of a dike system <br />to control drainage would benefit more than the Eng property noting <br />that ther•e ar•e multiple municipal contr•ibuter~s to the pr~oblem including <br />the State. Fahey suggested that the Engineer~ de~er•mine if this pr•oject <br />woul d qual i fy for• the gr•ant pr•ogr•am. <br />The City Cler•k suggested that if the DNR does not accept this pr•oject, <br />that the Council look at alter~native pr•ojects. <br />The Engineer pointed out that the gr~ant pr~ogr•am will be a continuing <br />Page -3- <br />
