MINUTES
City Council
Dec. 30, 1987
Bank Shot within the next two year•s. Schifsky also pointed out the tr~emendous
Billiar•ds visibility of the site and the owner•s exper~ience in the manufactur•ing
(Cont.) of billiard equipment.
LaValle asked if 6ank Shot Billiar•ds was r•equesting a 4 A.M. closing
time.
Schifsky r•epor•ted on the closing times of similar• billiar•d center•s and
the demand for• the facilities in the ear~ly mor~ning hour~s.
LaValle stated that he was not opposed to a 4 A.M. closing given the
visibility of the site. LaValle felt ther~e would be mor~e pr~oblems
at the billiar•d center• between 11 P.M. and 1 A.M. than ther~e would be
from 2 A.M. until 4 A.M.
Fahey noted that the Council has contr•ol over• the hour~s of oper~ation
under• the CUP. Fahey did not feel the City should dictate the hour•s
of oper~ation to a business with no tr~ack r•ecor~d. Fahey felt it may
be a benefit to have the center• open until 4 A.M. given the liquor~
establishments in the ar•ea and the pr•oblems the City has had in the
past with patr~ons fr•om these establishments hanging ar~ound the par~king
lots after• closing time.
Fahey asked if ther~e was anyone fr~om the general public pr~esent wishing
to speak on this matter•.
Tim Townsley, 90 Iona Lane, r~epor~ted that his home is appr•oximately
300 feet fr•om the shopping center~. Townsley was concer•ned with the
types of people the billiar•d center• would attr•act as well as the 4 A.M.
closing time, noting that most businesses in the shopping center• will
close at 9 or• 10 P.M. Townsley also r~epor•ted that dur•ing constr•uction
of the shoppi ng center• ther•e has been a 1 ot of tr•ash fr•om the si te
bl owi ng over• i nto hi s yar•d.
Ther~e was no one el se fr•om the gener•al publ i c pr~esent wi shi ng to
comment.
Mr~.
