MINUTES <br />City Council <br />Jan. 6, 1988 <br />Traxler asked for a description of the Centerville Road proper~ty, <br />which Fahey gave. <br />Collova questioned the necessity for~ questions 45 and 48. <br />Council discussed these two questions and decided that question 45 <br />should be eliminated and the word "wilderness" in question 48 should <br />be changed to "natur•e pr~eser•ve ar•ea". <br />Scalze asked the need for~ question 52 noting that the City is awar•e <br />that taxes ar~e high. <br />Tr•axler• r~eplied that this question dealt with per~ception and suggested <br />that some people may feel taxes ar•e about aver•age. <br />Fahey suggested that question 56 be deleted, and questioned the need <br />for #57. <br />Scalze stated that she would like to know if Little Canada r~esidents <br />ar~e bei ng ser•ved by the Rosevi 11 e Communi ty Center~. <br />Council agr~eed to delete question 56. Council also decided that if <br />in r•esponding to question 57 people say they ar•e not using the <br />Fair•view Community Center; the sur•veyor• will ask why not. <br />LaValle suggested that questions 59, 60 and 61 be eliminated. <br />Fahey agr~eed that these questions should be eliminated, but the lead-in <br />above question 59 should r~emain. <br />Scalze suggested that the sur•vey addr•ess the fact that the Council <br />is consider•ing an addition to City Hall and it may be possible to <br />add some community rooms. <br />Fahey agr•eed. <br />Collova commented that he would be in favor• of the addition to Cit.y <br />Hall if ther•e is need for~ additional office space. If not, he is not <br />in favor of the addition. Collova suggested that the sur~vey state <br />that the City is contemplating the addition to meet the needs of the <br />office, and if an addition is appr•oved, should additional space be <br />added for• community r•ooms. <br />Tr~axler• suggested that if the r~espondents oppose or favor~ the adciition <br />of community r•ooms, the sur•veyor• ask wh,y they feel that way. <br />Fahey suggested that question 63 be r~estated to deter•mine if a r~espondent <br />woul d 1 i ke to see a natur~e pr•eser•ve or• r~ecr~eati onal ar•ea on the Mostad/ <br />Johnson pr~oper~ty. <br />Fahey suggested that the lead-in to question 66 state an annual <br />festival and par~ade". Fahey also felt a question should be added <br />asking if the respondent feels the Canadian Days Celebration should be <br />continued as is, scaled down or~ eliminated. <br />Page -7- <br />
