P~INUTES
City Council
Feb. 10, 1988
Gar•dner~ Blesener• asked about the buildability of the soils in this ar~ea,
Bros. Lot pointing out that Larry Lee indicated that the soils would support
Split (Cont.) a 3,000 pound load str•uctur•e.
Par~ks r•eplied that Gar•dner• Br~os. has not had soil tests done, but
fel t assur•ed that Lar~r~y Lee was fami 1 i ar~ wi th the ar•ea and that ther•e
would be no pr•oblems with poor~ soils. Parks noted that poor~er~ soils
ar~e located to the south of this site and ther•e was quite a bit of
differ•ence in the ter~rain of this site with that of the souther•n
area.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 88-2-48 - APPROVING THE
GARDNER BROS. LOT SPLIT AS PRESENTED BASED ON
THE RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE PLANNIDIG COMMISSION
AND THE CITY ENGINEER AND SUBJECT TO PAYMENT
OF A PARK DEDICATIODI FEE, IF NECESSARY.
The for•egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr•. LaValle.
Ayes (4) alesener•, LaValle, Collova, Scalze.
Nays (0).
Resolution declar•ed adopted.
This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 19, Page 51 and 52.
City Center alesener reported that in August or September the Council asked for
Expansion comments on the pr~oposed addition to the City Center~ which was
(Cont.) dr•awn by SEH. alesener• suggested that these comments be r~eviewed
at this time and for~war~ded to the ar•chitect for• incor~por•ation into
the plan wher•e the Council feels warr~anted.
Blesener• pointed out that the comment was made that the entr•ance
to the Council Chamber•s was ackwar•d and ther•e is no pood ar•ea for~
making pr•esentations to the Council. Blesener• suggested that the
position of the Council table could be changed to r•esolve this
concer•n.
Comment was made that the Council table has seating for~ only five
while the Planning Commission and Par•k Commission each have seven
member~s. Blesener~ felt additional seating could be added, but that
the outside table for• consulting staff should be r•etained.
The suggestion was made to split the Council Chambers into two
r•ooms wi th a r•oom divi der•. Bl esener fel t the ar•chi tect shoul d
look at this possibility.
Blesener~ also r~eviewed the comment that the Council Chamber•s was too
small to accommodatelar~ge meetings, but noted that ver•y lar~ge meetings
only occur every couple of years, therefore, a very large Council
Chamber•s would not be necessar•y.
Page -11-
