MINUTES
City Council
Mar•ch 9, 1988
FahPy asked i f the mul ti -pur•pose r•oom wi th shower~s and 1 ocker• r~ooms
would be accessible fr•om the outside.
Bor~d r•eplied that this was possible and that plans could pr•ovide that
this ar~ea could be por~tioned off fr•om the r•est of the buildinq. The
City could have its own people super•vise this por•tion of the building
for• use whenever~ school was not in session.
LaValle felt that a decision on Capitol View needed to be made befor•e
the City could make a decision on Little Canada School.
Bor~g r•epor•ted that the School Boar•d has decided to sell Capitol View
and the Distr•ict is tr~ying to wor•k with the City on the best use of
that pr•oper•ty. 6or•g pointed out that the Distr~ict is also dealing
with the issues of Lexington School as well as Spooner• Par•k.
Fahey asked if the addition to Little Canada School would be on the
west end of the building.
Bor~g r•epl i ed that i t woul d.
Fahey felt this appr•opr~iate and noted that long-ter~m ther•e may be
need for• publ i c toi 1 ets i n Spooner• Par•k and i f ther•e i s access fr•om
the outside to these facilities, this would ser•ve this need. Fahey
also suggested that in the futur•e ther•e may be mor~e need for~ gym space.
Fahey stated that he liked the idea of shower• facilities at the Little
Canada School as well as toilet facilities thai: would be accessible to
the public.
6org pointed out that there is also a cooperative effort at the Pliddle
School for• conducting youth activities. Little Canada has fir•st
schedulinq pr•ior~ity at the Middle School and whenever• Little Canada
is not using the Middle School for~ evening r•ecr~eation, Roseville is.
Mor•elan pointed out that it was his under•standing that the School
Distr•ict is not asking for~ cost par•ticipation in any addition to the
Little Canada Elementar•y School that the School Distr•ict alr~eady has
plans for~, but r•ather• only additional facilities that the City might
be inter•ested in.
Bor•g r~eplied that that was cor~r~ect. The School Distr•ict is only
inter•ested in asking the City's par•ticipation in expanding the
facility to accommodate adult r~ecr•eation.
Mor~elan asked if ther•e wer•e showers at the Middle School.
Bor•g r•eplied that ther~e wer~e, but ther~e ar•e no shower~s at any of
the elementar~y schools.
h9orelan asked if Roseville's recreation progr~am had adult activities
that used shower facilities.
Borg replied that this was correct.
Page -5-
