r~INUrEs
City Council
Mar•ch 23, 1988
Mor•elan pointed out that the access door• on the west and par•king
facilities go hand-in-hand. Mor•elan pointed out that additional
super~vi si on mi ght be necessar~y i n or~der~ to supervi sor• both ends
of the building with multi-purpose vrooms at either end.
Blesener~ pointed out that if the building can be par~titioned oFf,
then the City could use the west end of the building and pr~ovide
its own supervisor.
Mor•elan stated that if that can be wor•ked out, then parking will
be necessar~y on the west end of the building.
Fahey suggested that he send a copy of the Recr•eation Committee's
report to the School District and see if representatives of the
School District would like to meet to discuss the matter. Fahey
commented that, hopefully, the School Distr~ict will act on the
City's offer for Spooner Pank in the very near future and that can
be discussed as well.
Scalze r•epor~ted that she viewed a por~tion of a r•ecent School Boar~d
meeting where it was decided to market the Capitol View property
with a commercial r~ealtor• as B-3 pr•oper~ty. It was commented at the
meeting that this was acceptable based on inter•pr•etation of the
negotiations with the officials of Little Canada.
Collova r~epor~ted that the School Distr~ict asked if the City would be
offended if the property were marketed as B-3, and he and Fahey replied
that it would not.
Scalze felt that if that is the case the City should be fr~ank with
the School Distr•ict and should clear•ly state what can be done with
the property.
Fahey r•eplied that he and Collova made it very clear• that based on the
fact that St. Bernard's is interested in the property and St. Bernard's
would fit within the Public zoning of the pr•oper•ty, that the City is
not inter~ested in actively pur•suing a r~ezoning of the pr•oper~ty.
Scal ze r•epor•ted that i n addi ti on to the bui 1 di ng, the pr•oper•ty to the
east is being mar~keted as B-3 pr•oper•ty as well. Scalze felt this was
an attempt to deter•mine the B-3 value of the pr•oper~ty. Scalze felt
that the City might be put in a tough position.
Fahey pointed out that with existing Public zoning and known par•ties
inter•ested in the pr~oper•ty who would fit within the Public zoning,
the City has a r~ight to leave the pr•oper~ty zoned Public. Ther~e has
been no indication fr~om the Council that it woul~l r•ezone the pr•oper~ty.
Fahey felt the School District can mar~ket the pr•oper•ty any way it wants
and i s mer~ely testi ng the water•s.
Page -4-
