MINUTES
City Council
April 27, 1988
Centerville
Road Ar•ea
(Cont.)
Fahey stated that he was not inter~ested in 300-foot ballfields. Fahey
felt some dir•ection was needed fr•om the Par•k and Recr•eation Commission.
Scalze pointed out that the Par•k and Recr~eation Commission did not
anticipate any development of the Center~ville Road pr•oper~ty until
spr•ing. The r•esults of the City's survey need to be r•eviewed when
planning the development of the pr~operty. Scalze stated that she
felt 12 acr~es should be pur~chased fr~om AIC Cor~poration.
Blesener felt 8 acres should be purchased.
Blesener• felt a decision needed to be made in two weeks. Blesener•
felt the Council should look at the ar•ea and deter•mine how much land
would be left for• industr•ial development. Blesener suggested that
Bill Sander•s put toqether~ some development pr•oposals using 25, 29 and
33 acr•es of pr•operty. Blesener• suggested that the Par~k Commission
might want to hold a special meeting to discuss the issue.
Collova suggested that the nor•ther•n pr•oper~ty be laid out to see how
it could be developed given var~ious sizes of par~k pr•operty to the south.
Scalze pointed out that AIC Cor•por•ation is willing to sell the City 12
acr~es. AIC curr•ently owns 16 acr~es in the ar•ea.
Fahey suggested that matter~ pr~oceed as suggested by Blesener• and that
Bill Sanders should put some development alter~natives together~ for• the
Council to review. Fahey sugqested that Sanders be invited to attend
the next Council meeting to present these alter•natives.
Scalze noted that Sander•s will not want to squeeze development into
the par~k and will pr•efer• to have open green ar•ea. Scalze stated that
she sensed some dispute with the size of ballfields, and pointed out that
the size of fields will have to be decided as well. Scalze agr~eed that
300 foot ballfields wer•e not necessar~y.
Sweeney asked if the City was inter•ested in offer~ing Butler~ cash or•
ter•ms. The City Attor•ney r•epor•ted that the Fasciana family wants cash,
Bibeau may want cash and Fr•attalone has been offer~ed a 2-year• contr•act
with 3 payments.
The Council felt that qiven the possible pur•chase of Spooner• Park for•
cash, the City should offer both Bibeau and AIC Corporation terms.
Mr. Fahey intr•oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption:
RFSOLUTION N0. 88-4-168 - INSTRUCTING TNE
CITY ATTORNEY TO OFFER AIC CORPORATION NOT
LFSS THAN TWO YEAR TERMS FOR THE PURCHASE
OF THEIR PROPFRTY IN THE CENTERVILLF ROAD AREA
The for•egoing r~esolution was duly seconded by Mr•. LaValle.
Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Scalze, Collova, Blesener~.
Nays (0).
Resolution declar~ed adopted.
This r•esolution appear~s in Resolution Qook No. 19, Page 172.
o~„o _~n
