MINUTES City Council May 25, 1988 Center~ville PURCHASED BY THE CITY FOR PARK TO ASSIST Road Ar•ea IN THE PLANNING OF THE PARK (Cont.) The for•egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr~. Blesener•. Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener, Fahey, LaValle, Collova. Nays (0). Resolution declar~ed adopted. This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 19, Page 218. Scalze r~epor•ted that the Par•k Commission intends to hold a par~k naming contest for~ the Center•ville Road Ar•ea par~k. The contest will be adver•tised at Canadian Days and a name will be chosen in September•. A pr•ize will be awar•ded to the winner• of the contest. Lawcon Scal ze r•epor•ted that ther~e ar~e two types of LAWCON gr•ants avai 1 abl e. One Gr~ants is for~ athletic development and the other• is for• the tr•aditional type of par•k devel opment. The Par•k Commi ssi on woul d 1 i ke to pur•sue a gr~ant for~ Agenda athletic development for• the Center•ville Road Ar~ea pr~oper~ty and one for~ Addition tr•aditional development for~ Ger•vais Mills Par•k. Deadline for~ application submission is July 8. Mr•s. Scalze intr~oduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: RESOLUTION N0. 88-5-217 - AUTHORIZING BILL SANDERS TO PREPARE LAWCON GRANT APPLICATIONS FOR BOTH ATHLETIC DEVELOPMENT IN THE CENTERVILLE ROAD PARK AREA AND FOR TRADITIONAL DEVELOPMENT IN THE GERVAIS MILLS PARK The for•egoing r•esolution was duly seconded by Mr•. Dlesener•. Ayes (5) Scalze, Blesener•, Collova, LaValle, Fahey. Nays (0). Resolution declar~ed adopted. This r•esolution appear•s in Resolution Book No. 19, Page 219. Histor•ical Fahey suggested that since the purchase of Spooner~ Par•k is pr~oceeding the Society Histor•ical Society put together~ a biographical sketch of Car•1 Spooner~ for• futur~e gener•ations as well as a sketch on the per•son for~ which Agenda Gilber•tson fields was named.
