:il
28, 1988
~loxious Collova reported that the ~~eed Inspector~ looked at the weeds on the
Weeds property adjacent to the Garden Ter~r•ace Apartments and determined that
they wer•e not noxious.
Agenda
Item No. 17
Schrier Collova fur•ther reported that the Building Inspector sent a letter to
Development Mr. Schrier• after the last Council meeting regarding the concerns that
were raised by the residents of his townhome development. To date,
Agenda ther•e has been no response from Mr. Schrier. The Building Inspector
Item No. 17 has ceased to issue any further occupancy permits for this development
and City water• will not be turned on to the new townhomes until the
matter is resolved.
Water Tower• Blesener~ reported that the City's water tower was inspected over the
last few days. Dur~ing the inspection there was a loss in water• pr~essur•e
Agenda because the St. Paul Water Department did not tur•n on some valves that
Addition would have maintained pr•essure while the inspection was taking place:
Blesener reported that after the inspect~on was completed, the water
tower was filled. However, due to a leak in a seal, the tower had to
be drained again and the seal r•eplaced.
alesener~ repor•ted that the inspection r•eport for the tower will be
available shortly.
Water Blesener reported that he has discussed the status of the City's water~
Contr~act contract with the St. Paul Water~ Department and was informed that the
tiiater Board members are ne w and are looking into past history of the
Agenda contract. The Department thought that action on the contract would be
Addition taken quite soon.
Blesener also r•eported that the City of Maplewood would be having another
meeting on October 6th at 9 A.M. on their water contract, and Blesener
and/or the Public Wor•ks Superintendent would be attending that meeting.
Noxious Scalze r~epor•ted that at a previous Council meeting she did not ask that
4Jeeds the Weed Inspector determine whether or not the weeds on the pr•operty
(Cont.) adjacent to Garden Terrace are noxious, but rather that the weeds be
cut similar to what was done with weeds near Carla Lane.
Collova felt that it was late in the fall to be cutting weeds. Collova
also asked who would be r~esponsible for the cost of cutting these weeds.
Scalze felt the cost should be assessed to the owner of the property.
Collova pointed out that the weeds near Carla Lane were cut because they
were causing a visibility problem. Collova did not feel that the weeds
should be cut given the time of the year.
Scalze felt that the City should be consistent in its handling of these kinds
of problems.
Page -19-
