MINUTES <br />City Council <br />September 28, 1988 <br />Proposed Scalze r•eported that the r•ezoning issue did not come up because of <br />Rezonings Country Dr•ive, but had been discussed by the Economic Development <br />(Cont.) Committee for some time. Scalze pointed out that since the east side <br />of the freeway ~aas rezoned to IP District, it ~das the feeling of the <br />Commission tha.t development of the west side of the freeway should <br />meet the IP District standards as well. <br />Scalze asked if the Suburban Auto Body proper•ty was rezoned to IP District, <br />if a building addition would be allowed. <br />The Planner r~eplied that Suburban Auto would be allowed to add on up to <br />25% of their building size if their property was rezoned to IP District. <br />The Planner suggested that if Mr. 0'Connell had any specific questions, <br />he could contact him dur~ing staff hours and. he would be happy to discuss <br />the matter• with him. <br />Blesener reported that the Council's intent is to upgrade as many parcels <br />as possible to increase the valuation of the City. Blesener• pointed out <br />that ther~e are many developmentsin the City not generating many tax dollar~s, <br />and. Blesener felt that futur•e development should bring a good value to the <br />City. <br />0'Connell stated that he understood the reasoning of the City, but pointed <br />out that there are many businessowner•s in the City that mai<e their~ living <br />with the businesses they have. <br />Blesener replied that the City is not trying to run anyone out of business, <br />but pointed out that l.ittle Canada has its share of inetal buildings. <br />Fahey suggested that the City Clerk put a notice in the newspaper of <br />consideration of the rezonings at the Planning Commission's October 13th <br />meeting and the City Council's October 26th meeting. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-9-402 - CONTINUING THE <br />PUBLIC HEARING ON THE PROPOSED REZONINGS OF <br />CERTAIN PROPERTIES LOCATED ON RICE STREET, <br />SOUThI OWASSO BLVD., COUNTRY DRIVE AND SPRUCE <br />STREET UNTIL THE OCTOBER 26, 1988 REGULAR <br />COUNCIL MEETING PENDING FURTHER INPUT AND A <br />RECOPIMENDATION FROM THE PLANNING COMMISSION <br />AND THE CITY PLANNER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Collova, Blesener, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This resolution appears in Resolution Book No. 20, Page 416. <br />Page -6- <br />
