MINUTES <br />City Council <br />October 12, 1988 <br />Hockey Scalze reported that the City advertised for bids for gr•ading work and <br />Rink Qids r•ink construction at the KelloggHockey Rinkarea. Five bids were <br />received: <br />Agenda <br />Addition Odland Construction R54,500 <br />Socon Construction, Inc. $54,500 <br />Matt Bullock Contracting $55,000 <br />F. M. Frattalone Excavating $56,255 <br />Engco General Contr•actors $43,200 <br />Scalze r~eported that Engco General Contractor•s has withdrawn their bid <br />due to an error they made in calculating it. <br />Since there was a tie between two contractor•s for the next low bid, a coin <br />was flipped and Odland Construction won the toss. <br />Scalze reported that the Recr•eation Depar•tment has $20,000 budgeted. for~ <br />1988 for the rink work. The Little Canada Recr•eation Association has <br />agreed to donate $5,000 towards the work and the North Subur~ban Youth <br />Association has been approached for $15,700. This leaves a shortfall of <br />$13,800. Scalze suggested that the difference be made up with 1989 <br />Recr•eation Depar•tment funds. The exact amount needed will depend on tlie <br />contribution that the Nor•th Suburban Youth Association ma!<es towards the <br />project. <br />Scalze repor•ted that the specifications call for• a completion date of <br />December lst, otherwise there will be a penalty. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following r•esolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 88-10-434 - APPROVING AND <br />AWARDING THE 6ID OF ODLAND CONSTRUCTIOPI IN <br />TNE AMOUNT OF $54,500 FOR tJORK AT THE <br />KELLOGG HOCKEY RINK SITE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. Collova. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Collova, LaValle, Scalze, Blesener. <br />Nays (~1. <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />This r~esolution appears in Resolution Book No. 20, Page 449. <br />R& S The City Attor~ney r•eported that the Development Agreement for the R& S <br />Development automotive expansion is in final form. The Attorney repor•ted that the <br />Agr•eement only thing that the City needs before a building permit can be issuad, <br />is a signed easement from P4r. Zilge for the r•oad right-of-way needed <br />Agenda fr•om his property. The Attorney r•eported that he has received the <br />Item No. 9 legal descr~iption for the easement area, and ther•e is a slight descr•epancy <br />that he needs to r•esolve ~aith the City Engineer. The Attor•ney anticipated <br />that the easement can be ready for Mr. Zilge's signature in the mor~ning. <br />Page -17- <br />
