MINUTES
City Council
October 26, 1988
Plultiple Scalze pointed out that the County pr~oper•ty was once considered for• a
Rezonings librar•y.
(Cont.)
The Planner commented that if a libr•ary wer~e to be located on that site,
the proper•ty would need to be rezoned to Public.
Scalze did not believe there would be high-gr•ade development in this
area along Rice Str•eet due to the r~esidential development on the west
side of Rice Street.
Collova stated that he felt B-3 zoning would be appr•opriate for• the
Fleischhacker proper•ty.
Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 88-10-454 - APPROVING THE
REZONING OF THE PROPERTY AQUTTING RICE STREET
AS SHOWN ON THE CITY PLFlNNING COMMISSION'S
PROPOSAL TO B-3 WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE
FLEISCHHACKER PROPERTY WHICH THE COUNCIL
ALSO REZONES TO B-3
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr•. Collova.
Ayes (5) Blesener, Collova, LaValle, Fahey, Scalze.
Nays (0).
Resolution declar•ed adopted.
This r•esolution appear~s in Resolution Book No. 20, Page 469.
The next area considered was the ar~ea of the Yorkton developments west of
the Water Works pr~operty. The City Planner• has proposed this area to be
zoned I-P and the Planning Commission supported this recommendation.
Blesener pointed out that Qill Ger~vais indicated at the Planning
Commission meeting that he did not oppose the r•ezoning of his pr•oper•ty
to I-P. The only opposition to the r•ezoning is fr~om the Buck Blacktop
proper•ty. Blesener pointed out that even under~ I-P zoning, ther•e is
expansion allowed for~ the Duck Blacktop building.
Scalze pointed out that Bill 6er~vais mentioned that his and his mother•'s
pr~operty would be sold as one parcel and suggested that the Rose Gervais
property be rezoned to I-P as well. The Planner~ had r•ecommended that
this parcel remain I-1.
The r•epr•esentative from Duck Blacktop indicated that he was concerned about
what would happen if the existing building burned down and ther~e was
the need to r•eplace the building.
Blesener stated that he would not oppose the r•ebuilding of a str•uctur~e if
there was the need. However•, he was concer•ned about how the proper•ty
mi ght be r~edevel oped. If the pr•oper•ty r•emai ns I-1 , the Ci ty woul d not
be able to pr•event a metal building from being developed. Blesener• felt
Page -7-
