MINUTES
City Council
November• 9, 1988
Little LaValle asked if the height of the storage r•oom would be adequate.
Canada
Elementary Fahey again suggested that having the storage room access the gym floor•
School may be prefer~able. Fahey indicated that the lar•ge equipment could be in
(Cont.) a per~manent position on the stage 90% of the time. The smaller pieces
of equipment could be moved in and out of the storage room.
Husak asked how the mezzanine ar~ea would be accessed..
Fahey pointed out that ther•e ar•e stairs leading to the mezzanine ar•ea.
Fahey suggested that Husak meet with the architect as well as the School
principal on the matter.
Collova pointed out that the City has to deter~mine the insurance liability
in takinq down and setting up the larger pieces of equipment. The City
also has to determine how much the School will be using the stage area,
and how feasible it is to set up and take down the larger pieces of
equipment.
Scalze agreed that the School pr~incipal needed to be contacted to determine
his need for the stage area. Scalze suggested that Nusak may want to have
her• gymnastics instr~uctor•s involved in her~ meetings with the School District.
Collova suggested that the stage area in the existing gymnasium at Little
Canada School may be an alternative place for• the gymnastics pr•ogram.
Scalze pointed out that the entire School would then have to be opened up
to provide access to the existing gymnasium.
Fahey agreed that the City has to determine what the local principal is in
favor of.
Blesener did not feel there was a pr~oblem taking down and, setting up the
gymnastics equipment if the City got a couple of days notice each time
the equipment needed. to be removed fr~om the stage.
Fahey suggested that he and Collova and Nusak and her~ instr•uctor~s meet
at the Little Canada School with the pr•incipal and the r•esults of the
meeting would be r•eported back to the Council. Fahey suggested that
this meeting take place prior to the November 23r~d Council meeting at
which the School District will present cost figures for• the improvements.
LaValle suggested that if the plan is to use money from the Park Dedication
Fund to pay for these improvements, the contr•ibuter•s to the fund should
be informed.
Scalze agr~eed, pointed out that these contributers are goal-oriented and
are looking at the development of the Center•ville Road Ar~ea Par~k.
Fahey pointed out that the City has budgeted money in the Park Ded.ication
Fund.
Page -14-
