MINUTES <br />City Council <br />February 8, 1989 <br />again on February 22 from 1-3 P.M. It has been changed to <br />Agenda Saturdays, to Wednesdays. It is the Food Subsidy Program <br />Item No. 4 for low to moderate income families. Anybody who is <br />interested in this Program must register on Wednesday, <br />February 22, 1989. The next meeting is scheduled for <br />May 24, 1989. Volunteers are needed. <br />Blesener announced that North Suburban Cable Commission has <br />a total of $5,000, to be awarded to an individual or <br />individuals selected by the Commission as a Cable T.V. <br />North Central Scholarship recipient. Scholarship <br />Applications are now available for anybody living in the 10 <br />City Area of North Suburban Cable, who has finished one <br />year of College or a Vocational Program and who is entering <br />into the Television or Video field. <br />Blesener also read a letter from the Board of Water <br />Commissioners from the City of St. Paul, regarding a new <br />contract that Little Canada recently signed. The letter <br />stated that credit due Little Canada as per the contract to <br />be $153,612.83. The money will be used to refurbish the <br />water tower and save any increase in taxes to the residents <br />of the City. Thanks go to Roger Glanzer, the Public Works <br />Superintendent for pushing this through. <br />Emergency This was a follow up to the meeting two weeks ago which <br />Services denied the plan of North 5tar with regard to their Plan <br />Emergency Services Plan. <br />Agenda Scalze mentioned that the Report of the St. Paul Paper was <br />Item No, 5 incorrect in printing in the headlines of Wednesday's paper <br />that "Little Canada demands Shelter to be built at North <br />Star". It gives impression of approval, when in fact no <br />decision has been made. <br />Mayor Fahey stated that the owners were invited to meet <br />with the Committee which they did. A report of January 25 <br />indicates that Mr. Dykema informed the Committee of an <br />approved shelter in East Bethel. The Building Officials <br />have stated that anything built after March 1st can not use <br />this galvanized piping. Also the Officials have stated <br />that shelter can not be built in flood plane or near <br />electrical lines. Mayor Fahey read the plans that the park <br />has submitted which allows people to go to the Ramsey <br />County Garage, or the Little Canada Fire Hall, due to the <br />Page 2 <br />
