MINUTES <br />City Council <br />February 8, 1989 <br />year ago, and that they said that they would look at <br />diverting water from the property from the east end of the <br />street. He said that the City put this in the grant <br />application in the State, and that two ideas were a Dike <br />and buying the house. <br />Mayor Fahey said the City is willing to help, but not to <br />the 50% extent. Ae also said that he does not see this as <br />a City problem. <br />Carley said that the County was going to have the sewer go <br />back in another direction due to a split in the road. <br />Chlebeck stated that they have action with the Metro Sewer <br />Board regarding County Road B. <br />Mrs. Ens informed the Council that they had purchased their <br />property in 1981, and that they were aware at the time of <br />closing that the City water would eventually be coming in. <br />She had spoken with the City Clerk prior to purchase, and <br />they put in drain tile as a result of this conversation. <br />She said they had no idea about water coming across the <br />front yard and that this Thanksgiving two big oak trees had <br />to be taken down from her front yard. She said that they <br />lost their retaining wall and that they have put new <br />windows in on the West side. In addition, they have spent <br />$41,000 since they have moved into the house. 5he <br />explained that Merrill Lynch listed the house in September. <br />and then she showed the Council 2 letters regarding the <br />value of her house. <br />The Mayor reiterated that he feels that this is a County <br />and a Metro problem. <br />Another woman stated that they need the City's support to <br />help fight the County. <br />Carley was directed to look at this problem. He will talk <br />with the Ramsey County Commissioner and then get in touch <br />with Mrs. Ens. <br />The Mayor said that if new information has been gathered, <br />this will be back on the agenda for the next meeting. <br />Addition to Dan Peters and 5heldon Johnson from Channel 45, KBBM TV <br />Page 8 <br />
