MINUTES
City Council
February 8, 1989
open mind. The Mayor wants the haulers to write down their
proposals. He feels that a division of the City is a good
idea if it's feasible with the haulers. The Mayor also
feels that the hauler must be able to serve all of the
needs of the area for which they will be serving, both
residential and commercial.
Virginia Fisher informed the Mayor that there are two
different pieces of equipment for the two types of hauling.
The Mayor said that the Committee should outline all of
these questions and points of information to be presented
to the Council.
A hauler questioned the apartment bid basis.
Scalze said that it would eventually come to that.
Another hauler said that the reason they do this in White
Bear is because there were only two bidders.
The Committee informed the haulers present, that the
apartments in Little Canada comprise about 65% of City's
population and that they must be included in the goals of
recycling. The Committee wants to keep the apartments in
the same bid with residential.
Blesener said that the apartment and the hauler should have
a contract, and the City would tell the apartment haulers
to do recycling and perhaps compost.
The Mayor said that the Council would like to hear more
information regarding this subject. They will meet again
in one month at 6:30 P.M. with a number of recommendations
by the Council.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned
at 7:45 P.M.
Respectfully submitted,
)
<_ .
C ` y~~J~~~ ?""
~~NW'''~ _~
~~
Deirdre J.
