MINUTES <br />City Council <br />May 3, 1989 <br />May 9, 1989 at 7 P.M. at the City Center. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-5-187 - A RESOLUTION APPOINTING <br />RAY HANSON AS CHAIRMAN OF THE FACILITIES COMMITTEE <br />AND SCHEDULING THE FIRST MEETING OF THAT COMMITTEE <br />FOR TUESDAY,MAY 9, 1989 at 7 P.M. <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr Fahey. <br />Ayes (5) Blesener, Fahey, Scalze, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Fahey reported that the following are members of the Facilities <br />Committee: Frank Graczyk, Dick Boss, Jim Morelan, Mike Fahey, <br />Bill Blesener, Ray Hanson, Peggy Schweizer, Bill Sanders and Bill <br />Ritchie. <br />Public The Council reported that each had reviewed the additional <br />T'~rks reports received on the four applicants for the position of <br />3upt. Public Works Superintendent, which were previously interviewed <br />by the City Council. <br />Blesener reported that his first choice for the position was <br />David Harris due to the strong leadership skills that have <br />been reported on and the indication in the report that Mr. Harris <br />is goal-oriented, willing to make decisions and able to communicate <br />in a direct and straight-forward manner. <br />Fahey agreed, and also commented on the fact that Mr. Harris has <br />indicated a willingness to relocate closer to the City. <br />Blesener reported that his second choice for the position would <br />be John Neska, however, indicated that the report received states <br />that Neska is not as strong in the decision-making skills as <br />the report indicated that Harris was. <br />The Council's concensus was that Harris should be offered the <br />position. The Council then reviewed Harris' salary expectations, <br />and it was the concensus of the Council that the position should <br />be offered with a salary of $30,000 annually. <br />Mr. Blesener introduced the following resolution and moved its <br />adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-5-188 - OFFERING THE POSITION <br />OF PUBLIC WORKS SUPERINTENDENT TO DAVID HARRIS <br />AT A SALARY OF $30,OQ0 P~'.2 YEAR FOR THE FIRST <br />Page -2- <br />
