MINUTES
City Council
May 3, 1989
action relating to incidents involving the overflow of the City's
water tower during a four week period, November through December,
1988. The City Attorney reported that this memo will be
introduced as an exhibit.
The City Attorney stated that prior to closing the public hearing
and going into closed session the City wouid take questions
regarding the procedure.
Dan Drake asked if he could respond to Roger Glanzer's memo of
January Z0, 1989, and requested that someone read the memo on
a paragraph-by-paragraph basis with Drake responding after each
paragraph.
Fahey pointed out that the January 20, 1989 memo is a memo to
Dan Drake's file reflecting previous incidents of performance
inefficiencies on Mr. Drake's part. Fahey pointed out that the
hearing was called to review the water tower incident, and not
performance in general.
Drake stated that he believed he had important information to
refute the statements made by Glanzer in the January 20th memo.
Fahey agreed that the additional information would be heard,
however, again pointed out that the recommendation for two-day
suspension was based on the water tower incident.
There were no other questions regarding the procedure of the
closed hearing.
Mr. Collova introduced the following resolution and moved its
adoption:
RESOLUTION N0. 89-5-189 - APPROVING THE
COUNCIL'S GOING INTO CLOSED SESSION TO
HEAR TESTIMONY REGARDING THE DAN DRAKE
MATTER
The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. Scalze.
Ayes (S) Collova, Scalze, Blesener, Fahey, LaValle.
Nays (0).
Resolution declared adopted.
Council again opened the meeting to the public.
Fahey reported that the Council has heard the testimony regarding
the Drake matter, and requested that Mr. Blesener restate the
resolution which he made in the closed session.
Page -4-
