1UT I 1�tlj- -- <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 22, 2025 <br />was included in the final interview process this summer. He explained that the Council was given the <br />option to stay with the existing firm and be served by another attorney or to follow the attorney to the <br />new firm. He stated that in a workshop the Council expressed a desire to stay with the attorney and <br />change firms. He stated that the proposed contract was included in the packet and remains virtually the <br />same with a few additional benefits for the City. <br />Mayor Fischer commented that when they went through the interview and review process, it was <br />unanimous that Amanda was the person they wanted representing them, therefore it makes sense to <br />follow her to the new firm with virtually the same contract. <br />Miller introduced the following resolution and moved its adoption: <br />RESOL UTION NO. 2025-1-20 — APPROVING THE CIVIL LEGAL SER VICES <br />AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA AND ECKBERG <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Kwapick. <br />Ayes (5). Nays (0). Resolution declared adopted. <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECTS: 2024 RECAP AND 2025 OVERVIEW <br />The Public Works Director presented information on the 2024 projects related to streets, ditch <br />cleaning, Country Drive/Little Canada Road/County Road C/35E interchange project planning, <br />sanitary sewer lining, and City Hall basement waterproofing. <br />The Parks and Recreation Director provided an overview of the 2024 park projects including the <br />Spooner Park pickleball conversion, basketball courts resurfacing, Thunder Bay trail connection and <br />trail repair, completion of Pioneer Park play node and water feature, Waterworks trail bench <br />installation, and park entrance signs. <br />The Public Works Director highlighted projects planned for 2025 including street improvement <br />projects, the Maple Leaf Court pond cleanout, booster station controls, and City Hall landscaping. <br />The Parks and Recreation Director highlighted park projects planned for 2025 including the Thunder <br />Bay trail boardwalk connection, Pioneer Park vegetation restoration and stormwater improvements, <br />Veterans Memorial Park bubbler system replacement, community gathering space planning, art in the <br />park, and community garden. <br />Miller stated that the community garden has been an ongoing desire, and this seems to be a great use of <br />the property. The Parks and Recreation Director confirmed that this would be a temporary use that <br />could provide a service to the community. Miller stated that if that is successful, they could then look <br />for a permanent home. <br />Miller asked if residents donated the funding for the art in the park program. The Parks and Recreation <br />Director provided details on the pilot program which rotated the signs throughout different locations <br />and during events.
