Staff <br />would then verify that the resident was a licensed <br />owner of a Little Canada business, and inform the <br />hauler that the resident would be exempt from <br />collection at his or her home. The Council believed <br />that there would be a limited amount of these <br />exemptions. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-9-433 - ALLOWING EXEMPTIONS FROM <br />MANDATORY TRASH COLLECTION FOR RESIDENTS WHO CAN <br />DOCUMENT TO CITY STAFF THAT THEY OWN OR OPERATE <br />A BUSINESS WITHIN THE CITY OF LITTLE CANADA~ WITH STAFF <br />TO PREPARE AN APPLICATION FORM TO BE COMPLETED BY THESE <br />APPLICANTS AND STAFF COMMUNICATING THE EXEMPTION TO THE <br />APPROPRIATE TRASA HAULER <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. <br />LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, LaValle, Collova, Scalze, Blesener. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />The next exemption discussed was for residents who take <br />extended vacations. It was the concensus of the <br />Council to grant exemptions to mandatory trash <br />collection for residents taking a minimum of 30 days <br />vacation. The Council felt dates for discontinuing and <br />resuming service should be established at the time the <br />exemption is applied for. <br />Mr. Fahey introduced the following resolution and moved <br />its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION N0. 89-9-434 - INSTRUCTING THE PUBLIC WORKS <br />SUPERINTENDENT TO WORK WITH THE AAULERS TO SET UP A <br />PROGRAM TO BE ADMINISTERED BY TAE HAULERS FOR EXEMPTING <br />RESIDENTS FROM MANDATORY TRASH COLLECTION WHEN THEY ARE <br />ABSENT FROM THE CITY FOR 30 DAYS OR MORE <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mrs. <br />scalze. <br />Ayes (5) Fahey, Scalze, Blesener, Collova, LaValle. <br />Nays (o). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />Page 12 <br />
