MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
September 26, 1989
It was the concensus of the Council to not budget for
the purchase of a sweeper during 1990.
Blesener presented the Council with a report dated
September 25, 1989 outlining an analysis of Stanton
Group "Twin Cities Metropolitan Area Salary Survey"
regarding salary ranges for Public Works personnel.
The report also contained a recommendation for 1990
salary increases for the City's Public Works personnel.
The Council reviewed the recommendations as contained
in Blesener's report and supported these
recommendations. Therefore, the Council agreed to the
following salary increases for Public Works personnel
effective January 1, 1990: 4% increases for Joe
Steele, Scott Heaton, and Pat Dunn, a 1% increase for
Dan Drake, and a 15% increase for Dave Harris effective
November lst and an additional 4o increase for Dave
Harris effective January 1, 1990.
Council also indicated that the increase given Joe
Steele when he assumed the duties of temporary lead man
was a permanent increase. The 4% increase for 1990 is
in addition to the temporary lead man increase which
was granted earlier this year. It was also the
concensus of the Council to appoint Joe Steele as lead
man on a permanent basis.
Council discussed other Public Works position titles,
and it was the concensus of the Council that Dan
Drake's job position title should be established as
Sewer & Water Maintenance Worker.
The Council reviewed the Stanton Report to determine
the percentage increase granted by the County, and it
was noted that the County has generally been in the 3
to 4% range, and for 1989 the County granted a 3%
increase to its employees. Therefore, Council felt
that the 4% increase generally proposed for City
employees is in the appropriate range.
Page 2
