A number of manholes, including all of the
manholes on Carla Lane, were sealed up as part of the project to prevent infiltration into
the sewer system.
Recap of 2024 Parks Projects
Spooner Park Pickleball Conversion and Parks Court Resurfacing – Additional pickleball
courts were necessary in our community due to increasing demand for pickleball
opportunities. Two multiuse courts at Spooner Park were converted to six exclusive
pickleball courts. Since their inception, these courts have received heavy use from the
community. In addition to this project, the two multi-use courts at Pioneer Park were lined
for exclusive Tennis use to ensure these players weren’t being displaced. The basketball
court at Thunder Bay Park and Rondeau Park were also resurfaced.
Thunder Bay Trail Connection & Trail Repair – A trail connection was made from Payne
Ave to the Pioneer Commons Development along the Thunder Bay Linear Trail. This
connection enhances connectivity in the Northeast region of the city. Additionally, around
3000 linear feet of trail was repaired in 2024. Trails were inspected in 2021 and assigned
replacement dates after reviewing the condition of all trails.
Pioneer Park Trail Repair – 2700 linear feet of trail was repaired in Pioneer Park. Having benches within closer distances of each other can provide those with
less mobility options for taking breaks during their walks. City Maintenance Staff installed
ten of these benches along the water works trail and three benches along the Jackson Street
trail just north of Demont Ave.
Recap of 2024 Building Projects:
City Hall Basement Waterproofing – A contractor installed drain tile around the inside
perimeter of the basement. The
new windows brought a nice clean look and shored up some water intrusion issues that had
cropped up over the years.
City Hall Solar – Staff applied for and received grant funds for a solar project that will take
place in 2025.
