COMMUNITY RELATIONS MANAGER/ASSISTANT CITY ADMINISTRATOR <br />JOB DESCRIPTION <br />4 <br /> <br /> <br />b. Actively fulfills City Council and City Administrator strategic initiatives. <br />c. Performs a variety of special projects or assignments requiring research, evaluation <br />documentation, implementation or coordination as directed by the City Administrator. <br />d. Develops, implements and enforces administrative policies and procedures. <br />e. Assess problems and situations effectively, as well as anticipate needs and evaluate <br />alternatives. <br />f. Manage diverse functions with the ability to evaluate organization and management <br />procedures and make recommendations for improvements. <br />g. Assists in developing short and long-range goals for improvements, programs and <br />administrative direction. <br />h. Monitors regional and national activities/trends that may affect and/or influence the city. <br />i. Reviews and recommends changes to procedures, ordinances, regulations and programs <br />when appropriate or necessary. <br />j. Performs other duties and assumes other responsibilities as apparent or assigned. <br /> <br />KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES <br /> <br />• Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with diverse audiences, media, elected <br />officials, staff and residents. Excellent interpersonal skills. <br />• Excellent communications and relationship skills both orally and in written format using tact, <br />sensitivity and understanding of diverse audiences to build trusting and cooperative relationships, <br />ability to work tactfully and effectively with the public, elected officials, City employees and <br />outside agencies. <br />• Ability to build authentic relationships with racial, socio-economic, and gender and age diverse <br />communities. <br />• Knowledge of effective techniques for public participation, engagement and outreach strategies <br />and outcomes. <br />• Ability to create content, especially digital content creation, including but not limited to updating <br />websites, graphic design, photography and videography, maintenance and distribution of content <br />on social media accounts. <br />• Strong writing and editing skills. <br />• Knowledge and proficiency with software such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite and <br />InDesign. <br />• Ability to manage projects, coordinate timelines and handle multiple priorities. <br />• Ability to work independently. <br />• Knowledge of laws, ordinances, regulations, operations, services and activities of governing <br />municipal governments. <br />• Thorough knowledge of public administration, functions, structures and operating routings of <br />municipal governments. <br />• Knowledge of principles and practices of municipal budget preparations, program development and <br />administration.
