MINUTES <br />CITY COUNCIL <br />September 27, 1989 <br />The foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Mr. <br />LaValle. <br />Ayes (5) Collova, LaValle, Blesener, Fahey, Scalze. <br />Nays (0). <br />Resolution declared adopted. <br />UNDERWOOD Blesener reported that Mr. and Mrs. Scott Underwood, <br />REQUEST FOR 876 Windrow Drive, have requested an exemption from <br />EXEMPTION organized collection since they own a business at which <br />ORGANIZED they have trash collection. The business is outside <br />COLLECTION the City, however, just on the other side of the City's <br />boundary line. <br />Blesener reported that he has spoken with Mrs. <br />Underwood and explained the City's position on not <br />allowinq exemptions for residents who have businesses <br />outside the City. <br />Council agreed that the exemption should only be <br />allowed £or residents who have businesses within the <br />City. <br />Blesener reported that he will contact Mrs. Underwood <br />and inform her that the Council's position remains the <br />same, however, indicated that Mrs. Underwood may <br />request to appear at the October llth Council meeting. <br />1990 BUDGET Blesener noted that at the September 26th Budget <br />Workshop meeting, the Council decided not to budget for <br />the purchase of a street sweeper during 1990, however, <br />wished to increase the street sweeping portion of the <br />budget to allow for City streets to be swept two or <br />three times during the year. <br />Blesener suqqested that since the budget included some <br />additional money to cover the cost of an additional <br />Public Works employee, and such an employee may not be <br />added during 1990, the Budget could be adjusted to move <br />some of the money for salary for an additional employee <br />into the street sweepinq portion of the budget. <br />CELEBRATE MN Scalze reported that Bill 5anders has contacted the <br />Highway Department with regard to his recommendation <br />for replacinq the chain-link fence on the Little Canada <br />Road bridge with a decorative wrought-iron fence. <br />However, at this time there has been no response from <br />the Highway Department. <br />PAGE 39 <br />
