MINUTES
CITY COUNCIL
September 27, 1989
STANKE Fahey opened the public hearing to consider the
REAR YARD application submitted by Roger Stanke for a rear yard
SETBACK setback variance at 209 Ryan Drive. Fahey pointed out
VARIANCE that the Planning Commission has recommended approval
of the variance subject to the recommendations as
contained in the City Planner's report dated September
11, 1989.
Stanke appeared before the Council and reported that he
would like to construct an addition to his existing
building. The addition would be 64 feet by 34 feet and
will encroach into the NSP right-of-way. Stanke
reported that he has obtained the necessary easement
from NSP. Stanke reported that his addition will be
identical in appearance to his existing building.
Stanke also reported that he intends to blacktop the
area in front of his building, however, will delay
installation of the blacktop until the City determines
what will be done with Ryan Drive.
Scalze suggested that the area in front of the building
should be blacktopped in conjunction with the building
addition, and pointed out that the property near the
street could be left as is until the City determines
what is to be done with Ryan Drive.
Stanke pointed out that he has a fenced in area, and
the new addition would be within the fence. Stanke
stated that he would like to landscape along the fence,
however, wants to wait until Ryan Drive is improved so
that landscaping is not installed at this time and has
to be moved later.
Scalze stated that she would like to see a landscaping
plan for the property. Scalze was concerned about the
condition of the property, pointed out that there are
junk cars on the site. Scalze pointed out that the
City is attempting to get Ryan Industrial Park cleaned
up and the Council has been addressing this issue as
development requests within the park come in.
Stanke agreed that the park should be cleaned up, and
pointed out that he has his property fenced and is
willing to screen it as well. However, before
landscaping of the fence area is done, Stanke stated
that he would like to know what the elevation of Ryan
Drive will be.
Page 6
